I don't know for sure if it's a future book, as I have yet to read it, but I imagine you're right. Once I've read it I'll come back here to talk about it :)
Well, it's kind of about aliens taking over the world, so I suppose it's a little about the future!
I haven't read it either, I guess it's kinda Sci-Fi
Meh, guess I can't talk about it then, seeing as no one's read it! Don't want to give anything away. I might have to read it again too, because I've only read it once, when it first came out so I don't remember it too well.
I just heard that The Host is going to become a movie too! Steph's one rich woman! I wonder who they're gona cast this time and whether it'll be as successful...

It is the future and sci fi. I think this is a really good book. I liked Twilight but I think The Host is better
That's what I thought Holly. It seems as though whenever a good book comes out, Hollywood has to ruin it with a movie! Do they have no talented writers anymore to come up with their own plots? Apparently some guy called 'Andrew Niccol' is writing and directing The Host, Steph's got a post on her website about it.Yeah, I kinda liked The Host better than Twilight too.
Ian is totally sweet. I think Jared is sweet too, but only with Melanie. Melanie's memories showed a different side to him that I liked. But Ian is way sweeter.Btw, has anyone read Beastly by Alex Flinn? They're turning that into a movie too.

I hesitate to say I hate Kyle. Kyle is...misguided. He's grown up with the same thinking every other survivor has and it's taking him longer to come around because of Jared. I'm going to predict he'll be on good terms with Wanda by the end of the series.
But still Wanda has done nothing but try to be nice to him and everyone else but he still trys to hurt and kill her. I can understand why Jared would be mad because he was in love with Melanie but Kyle has no excuse

I think it's just that he doesn't trust the alien that's inside her, which is understandable considering they've taken over their world and the humans have been forced into hiding. And I think Kyle was better towards the end, so I'm pretty sure his and Wanda's relationship will improve in the next books, if it's still about them.
Right, and I understand that at the end he had to be nice to her or he would be thrown out into the world or killed (whatever it was), but I think he'll be nice to her for Ian's sake at the very least.
He was going to killed her for Ians sake and he was probably only nice to her in the end because she was telling them how to take fhe souls out of humans and they would of killed him So I still dislike Kyle no matter how nice he became he's still a jerk
I bought the Host (40% off---WOOHOOO!!) Can't wait to start it...though I do have to get all this pesky studying out of the way first : )
Don't be discouraged by the first, oh, 100 pages because they're a little slow, but they set the scene for the rest of the novel and it's so good.

you know what you guys...I don't know what your talking about when it comes to the first 100 pages...I thought the first 100 pages were really exciting actually...sucked me right into the story...I've had trouble putting that book down!
I didn't think it was slow until I went back to reread it. Then it seemed really slow. People I've talked to seemed to have a real problem with them, though.
Ohh, interesting. I have yet to read it.. although I've had it on my desk since August, at least. Haven't really felt inclined to read it yet though.

Mackenzie..pick that book up and READ IT! It's sooo good---so far I would describe it as sci-fi/creepy/romance/survival/furturistic....its really really good :)
I'm into the book Need right now, and after that I'm going to be reading Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter. And after that, I was thinking of reading Evermore by Alyson Noel. But the last one isn't set in concrete as of yet. :)
I read the Host a long time ago and i personally think it is better than twilight. Tell me what you think of Blindsighted when you read it. I've read Evermore and i never got to finish it because i was not that into it.
Oh, I liked Twilight. Although, in hindsight, it's not as good as it's cracked up to be lol. I've been dying to read Blindsighted! It finally came in at the library for me! So, I can't wait to finish my current book and get to that one! :P

I'm really enjoying it! I'm trying to figure out what Nick is cause I haven't read far enough that it tells anything more about him, but I have a feeling he's more than just an ordinary person..****

ok...I'm just over half way through the Host....I can't decide on my fave guy...Ian or Jared. Did anyone say that there is going to be a part 2 to this book???
Yeah, there's supposed to be two more books coming out, which I'm really excited about!I had the same problem with Ian and Jared. I know Jared can be a bit of an a** sometimes, but you gotta feel sorry for him because he loved her so much and thought he'd lost her.
And then Ian's such a sweetheart you can't help loving him!
Well, she's finished the Twilight series now, so she should have more time to spend on the Host series, hopefully. It does say on Goodreads that the next one should come out next year, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I've waited long enough!
Yeah, I guess I know what you mean. It's not very professional though is it, considering she's a writer so she should be putting more effort into that instead of keeping her fans waiting. It feels like the Host came out ages ago.
