Struggling to Finish this cuz it's gotten so cheesy and the editing seems worse as I go! I'm at 85% so of course I'll finish but should have been long done!

Something I had a really hard time following was (view spoiler)[ Mina's first tale with the bull and the stag...I just couldn't visualize that whole puzzle in the mysterious building that was there then wasn't there. I always try to visualize books, especially these kind of paranormal/fantasy/etc books. When I can't get a good visual based on writing, it's hard for me to enjoy. These whole scene was confusing to me.

I had trouble with that scene as well! I thought it was just because I was reading before bed and too tired. Very difficulty to follow, but I figured I got the point, so didn't go back to try to figure it out. :)

I wasn't surprised (view spoiler)[about Mina wanting to take on the curse. She has had to move around often all of her life. She is settled in a school and has a best friend. I can understand her not wanting to move. I was surprised at how easily her mom gave in! I would think, after trying to protect her children for so long, it would have taken more for her to agree to letting Mina fight the curse. (hide spoiler)]

Before I read the description, I thought the book was a retelling of Little Red Ridding Hood because of the girl in a read hood on the cover.

This is a slower read for me. The editing is horrible! I keep having to reread sentences because there are words missing or words that shouldn't be there!

The writing is kind of cheesy in places.

The alley guy who also attacked her in the library is probably called Gray Tail because he is a wolf? And Brody might be the hunter parallel here. There is another character that intrigues me and I wonder what Jared is really all about.

I thought Nan sent the text to Brody too but she might have sent it to someone else as well. I really don't like her at all and the fact that she didn't start freaking out when Mina told her about the family curse seems to bring up a red flag for me. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 18 and (view spoiler)[ the writing is really annoying me. I hate insta-love in books and Brody and Mina has exactly that. I mean, how does this trope make way into most books these days? It is everywhere!

They barely know each other and there has already been talks of being The One and it is massively annoying.

I just want to get this done with. I am intrigued about Jared as a character so I might still read the next book but that won't be happening immediately. (hide spoiler)]

Finished a few days ago...not the best book I've ever read. It was tough finishing because the editing seemed to get worse as the book progressed. I hate how the ending was left off, forcing you to read the next, but I have no intention of doing so! I do plan to check out the BR Thread you setup to see where this goes because I really want to find out (view spoiler)[ more about Jared, and see what's up with Nan...there's more to her than we know. And there's got to be more with Brody. I just can't read another one. (hide spoiler)]

I've finished the book. (view spoiler)[I knew Brody liking Mina happened too fast! I feel bad that he doesn't remember any of it, though. I wasn't too far off with the Hansel and Gretel thing, though Claire wasn't going to eat Brody. I also wasn't too far off with the Little Red Riding Hood idea. But, it was Mina who saved Nan and not Brody who saved Mina.

I'm interested to see what is up with Jared. (hide spoiler)] I'll be reading the next book, at some point.

Mina just seems to be a wall flower or just someone who is easily overlooked.

I totally agree with you! It is a quick read and I'm trying to take it all in but there's just SO MUCH.

I also like the idea of the Grimm curse (I love the show, which also has its own silly moments). I think I'm surprised at how young the teenagers seem for 15 and 16 year olds. Especially Mina, but I guess that's because her mother has kept her isolated socially, as well as their poverty giving her its own isolation.

It seems like Nan is trying to set Mina up with Brody, or at least I think she is. I though he must be who she was texting about Mina, and I also think she's the one that told him how to find her. I don't trust her, but I'm always looking out for the friend that will turn traitor. It happens too often. (hide spoiler)]

I feel the same way as most. I enjoyed the story, as it was short and FREE. I don't care enough about it to pay $3 to read the next one. I was hoping they were at least part of the Kindle Unlimited program.

I am curious about Jared's true identity. Maybe he's fairy royalty or something. I'm also thinking that in each book, Brody will become Mina's hero. Because this seems like that kind of series. (hide spoiler)]
