Am4u ❀ ~ AprilMarie4u ~ ❀ (aprilmarie4u) | 13 comments I recently read Jason by Laurell K. Hamilton. In the book Anita claims to have had less than 30 sex partners, but by my notes it is over 30. Is this list correct?

Here is the list that I have of her known sex partners (includes oral only):

1) Jean Claude (3rd fiance)
2) Richard (2nd fiance)
3) Asher
4) Damian
5) Nathaniel
6) Jason
7) Crispin
8) Micah - aka Mike
9) Byron
10) Requiem
11) London
12) Alex
13) Belle (f/f) (oral sex through mind link)
14) Raphael
15) Wicked
16) Truth
17) Victor
18) Domino
19) Cynric - aka Cyn - aka Sin
20) Hunter
21) Sebastian
22) Nicky
23) Haven - aka Cookie (Cookie Monster)
24) Roderic - aka Rick (oral sex)
25) Unknown Name - Anita lost virginity to 1st fiance
26) Noel (oral sex)
27) Mephistopheles - aka Devil - aka Dev
28) Jade (f/f)
29) Ethan
30) Augustine - aka Auggie
31) Lisandro
32) Donovan (The Swan King)

- End of list. -
List is up to by the end of book #22 Affliction, does not include book #23 Jason.

I know Anita was suppose to have sex with Sampson (Samuel & Thea's son) to see if she could bring him into his power as a Siren, but from my notes they never got around to it. They ended up sending him away because of the Harlequin being in town & they thought it'd be too dangerous. Did Sampson ever come back to complete the deed? I don't think he did, but want to double check with someone who also read the series.

mlady_rebecca | 75 comments Wow, you're good. I dug back through my old LJ posts and reviews. The only name on that list I don't recognize is Rick. Which book was he in? Is he a were?

You forgot Donovan the swan king.

When did she have sex with Lisandro?

I have a hard time remembering details from the recent books between "Skin Trade" and "Affliction". (And I didn't buy any of the eBooks after Flirt. Someday I'll get them all in Kindle format.)

I can see Laurell discounting Belle, but that's still right up at the 30 people mark.

And, no, as far as I know Sampson was never Anita's lover.

Am4u ❀ ~ AprilMarie4u ~ ❀ (aprilmarie4u) | 13 comments Donovan
How could I have forgotten the swan king!?!
Going to update the list. Thanks Rebecca :)

Roderic aka Rick
He was one of the white tigers in Vegas. It happen when Vittorio (Father of Day) had hostages (including Max, Bibiana, Rick, & Requiem) near the end of book #17 Skin Trade. It was one of the sexual acts Anita had to perform to get Vittorio to release more of the hostages.

Lisandro
Was during one of the mishaps with the ardeur taking everyone over. It happen in Book #19 Bullet, but there is no scene just a reference to it. It was mentioned also in Book #20 Hit List & book #22 Affliction that Lisandro's wife was okay with it, but it was not to happen again or she'd leave him & take the kids.

I usually buy the eBook first then add the hardcover later for my LKH collection. The real benefit is the word search option for Kindle, it really helps when looking for specifics to jog the memory :)

Oh boy, I wonder what happen with crazyass Thea! lol. Hope her sons are okay. I think LKH completely forgot about poor Sampson & his little brothers.

Ahh, Rick sounds familiar now. Not being on stage is probably why I missed Lisandro.

When I was hot and heavy for the books, I bought the hardback and ebook right off. Last few I skipped the ebook because I didn't find myself wanting to search for anything. I read the books and put them aside. Not analyzing as much.

Jason is the first book I bought the ebook form first. Going back to get it in paperback, cause it's Jason and he's always been a favorite of mine.

But it was nice to revisit some old posts where I was so wrapped up in the series. I miss that.

Am4u ❀ ~ AprilMarie4u ~ ❀ (aprilmarie4u) | 13 comments The off stage & off page stuff is so easy to miss. I'm still confused about the whole American Vampire Council stuff.

Jason is one of my favorites also. The series has so many really great characters but there's so many characters we really don't get to see enough of everyone. I really could do without sooooo many of the tigers around.

LKH books do have some pretty intense worlds, breathers are necessary but they are fun to come back to from time to time :)

Am4u ❀ ~ AprilMarie4u ~ ❀ (aprilmarie4u) | 13 comments Just an update ...

In an attack of OCD madness I created these:
Anita Blake: Timeline
Anita Blake: Sex Partners

If you spot any errors or something I missed, leave a post or message me please.

Travis Luedke (twluedke) | 31 comments Though it can't be cataloged, it does bear mentioning.

One of the more recent novels in the series, starring the scarface vampire villain whose junk had been burned off by holy water (can't recall the name), involved at least two orgies where Anita went at it with a whole gang of people, and it was implied she didn't even know exactly who, how many, how many times, or what she did.

She had a blackout orgy fest. Scarface (Vincent maybe was his name?) sucked a bunch of power out of her and her many many lovers, and then she ends up taking him down in the end.

In a discussion of Anita's sex partners, the blackout orgies throw a wrench in the list compilation process.

:)

Am4u ❀ ~ AprilMarie4u ~ ❀ (aprilmarie4u) | 13 comments Hey Travis! *waves outrageously*
nice to see you here but am surprised no one has gone Stephen King's 'Misery' and chained you to your writing desk O_O lol

There are at least three vampires in the series with severe facial holy water scars (Asher, Vittorio, & i think Valentine?), but the one with the missing junk was Father of Day aka Vittorio. I forget which book he very first appeared in, but Anita has her final fight with him in book #17 Skin Trade.

"throw a wrench in the list" he says! More like a whole tool set & then some, lol. It definitely complicated the process so I only went by the ones we know of for sure, but the number can truly be a lot higher since there are those unknown factors.

Am4u ❀ ~ AprilMarie4u ~ ❀ (aprilmarie4u) | 13 comments btw she's so full of it
i LOVE her books but IMO what really happen is
it got to editing and well like Michael Crichton said
sometimes the 7th rewrite hasn't quite done it yet

Lisa Lenox (alizarinred) | 3 comments I quit reading the series because of the excessive sex (don't get me wrong, I love me some erotica, but it just isn't erotic-just really squishy), the excessive descriptions of her horde of lovers, and lack of dedication to any plot.

I liked the Merry Gentry series better, even with all the squish, because the character was a fertility goddess so it made sense that she did absolutely everyone. I was very unhappy with the conclusion of the series. It left too many questions unanswered.

She needs a new editor. Her books became rife with repetitive phrases (I screamed my pleasure to the sky-how many times can you use that effectively? Once.) She also needs to find the plot and do something with it. There are literally entire pages devoted to describing various lovers-ones we've already been introduced to. There is no need to go on about it for an entire page, unless you're simply trying to bulk up a book that's lacking in storyline. And let's face it: that's precisely what's going on. Without the excessive descriptions and excessive sex scenes, there's less than a novella, and who's going to pay $13 for that?

Aaaaa, lol. All the sexy times was one of the reasons I stuck with the Anita Blake series. To each their own. ;)

Ooo, I love that series too! I've read all the Merry Gentry's but the last one. I just keep hearing so many bad things about it that I've been hesitant to start it. :(

I agree on the editing, especially with content like redundancies & inconsistencies. I think she needs a solid developmental editor to help improve her writing, but it might be an ego issue with that. Also, a continuity editor if she plans another series.

Jessie (origami76) | 8 comments The publication date of the next AB:VH hunter novel has been pushed back an entire year to 2018. Initially LKH tried to tell fans it was because she was 'taking a break,' but contradicted herself in a second blog where she admitted the delay was actually because her editor decided it needed more work (rewrites, editing).

I'd like to think this means that the next novel will be a lean beast focused on the plot, but I doubt it. Crimson Death was supposedly edited as well and I thought it was only 20% plot.

Oh! I didn't know. Thank you for sharing the info! =)

I wonder how much longer the series will continue? Any word on that? I've been pretty horrible at following the latest from this series. I absolutely loved this series, but sadly I think many of us AB fans have been ready for it to be over for a while now.

Jessie (origami76) | 8 comments When questioned on how much longer the series will continue, the author continues to state that its ongoing (never ending).

Ouch! Sucks not having no end in sight. I still love the series, but my enthusiasm for it has waned some. I'll still read them eventually tho but no longer hot to get it as soon as it releases.

Back in the day when great PNR were hard to find I anxiously awaited the next release, but nowadays the market for good PNR is much more competitive... IMO.

Or maybe I've simply outgrown the series. :(

Jessie (origami76) | 8 comments It's not just you. The popularity of AB:VH has been on the decline for years. Unfortunately, , unlike other authors in her genre, LKH hasn't been developing any other new side projects. So she has nothing to replace AB:VH.

And I don't count the Merry Gentry series becaus one novel every 5 years is not real effort IMO.

It's def very strange. Most authors in this genre do have either multiple series or they release standalones in between series releases.

LKH herself I'm sure has changed much from book 1 of AB:VH. I would love to know what a more mature/experienced LKH could produce when not limited to the rules/continuity of an existing series, which I don't think she's done since the 90's.

lol about MG, true that! @.@
