Actually only the Feb BOTM nominations has passed (make sure to vote on the group home page poll - poll ends on the 15th), this is the first nomination for a book of the quarter so we might just go with it. I love short stories so this would be great (even IF this group is called The Horror Novel it still includes short collections)
Thanks

No poll yet since we hadn't gotten any nominations, we will select something after getting a couple. I agree Adrian this is a great area for larger books.

Before my dad passed, I loaned him my book and my step mom hasn't given it back to me. I really liked the book, I watched the movie and was disappointed in it.
If I remember correctly, it came out with The Regulators (by King's alter ego Richard Bachman) with both novels using the same characters. I read Desperation but never The Regulators as my brother read both before me and recommended I skip The Regulators as he really didn't care for it.
I remember liking Desperation but did not care at all for the TV movie they made from it (as with many of Kings adaptations, it was just schlocky).

Not sure why so many adaptations of King have been horrible. You'd think that by the late 80's he would have been much more discriminating with who he sold rights to and had heavy input on the quality of the productions as by that point he probably had more money than he ever needed and could focus on quality. Good news is you could remake many of the 80's and 90's films now without fans getting worked up about it.

I remember watching Christine several times when it came out on VHS in the 80s. Haven't seen it in 20+ years, wonder if it holds up.
Get your nominations in this group for a January 1 start (book will be selected in December).
