Jeff Walker The author of the book argued that the pace of technological innovation has been slowing. That during the industrial revolution and after many great life changing innovations were made but that now, while there are innovations, they are mostly in information and entertainment. They have a comparatively smaller impact on people's lives. Compare indoor plumbing, car, electricity, stove, refrigerator to computers, internet and cell phones. The argument was I believe primarily about exhausting the space of innovation not about economics. I think I read it when it was newer and I was in high school or college so perhaps 1990-2005.

Other Notes:
* Had two page chart of history of technological innovation (black and white)
* Categorized technologies to show that newer were all in categories with less impact (like entertainment i.e. DVDs)
* Believe it is the source of a story I remember that the person who invented the jet engine got to fly on the Concorde jet before his death
* It is NOT "The Great Stagnation: How America Ate All the Low-Hanging Fruit of Modern History, Got Sick, and Will (Eventually) Feel Better." by Tyler Cowen. That book is both too new and too econ focused to be it.
