I was really excited to read this because it's on a lot of 'best of romance' lists with books I love but WHAT DID I READ.

yeah like.. there is legit no reason explained in the book for why he's such an ass? I kept waiting for there to be some big family reason for his commitment issues but YIKES HE'S JUST AN ASS

I'm not saying the characters feel like they are aliens pretending to be human but I'm also saying it fits more than these being real adult humans who speak like this

Like I wouldn't forgive him either way because how much of an asshole was but he has zero tragic backstory on why he was like that?? Dude was just an asshole?? what??

We should have known from the really low avg rating but honestly none of this makes sense. This author has so many books that are all hailed as top romance and I'm very confused

if an expose came out that this author had been intentionally writing her characters as lizards in human suits, I would believe it 200%

The dialogue was some of the WEIRDEST, most REDUNDANT language I have ever read - why were they constantly talking about traffic and why they're walking instead of driving, why were they explaining EVERYTHING but what mattered?

So I finished oopsies. Here are some thoughts:

Page 36 (view spoiler)['Don't worry about it,' she said. Did she really mean it, though? He couldn't tell. He'd only met her yesterday. He didn't know about her 'don't worry about it' nuances yet.' Very true! And good thinking Drew! (hide spoiler)]

Drew (view spoiler)[Well he started off as an adorable cutie, and then he just made so many stupid mistakes and didn't use his brain! I loved his bestie Carlos, he's a typical guy, telling Drew when he's being stupid and telling him to fix it but not telling him how exactly. Drew's just way too self-absorbed and angry at the drop of a hat, and he clearly doesn't trust her because he always thinks she's cheating. All he thinks about is the sex, and how much he loves her, and then they fight, and then he says 'damn how could he think about being without her' and then they fight... (hide spoiler)]

Alexa (view spoiler)[I found her to be very relatable! Subtly bringing things up, and then blatantly asking things, and overthinking, and being insecure with her body at times and then confident at others. I love her pizazz and her conversational skills at events. But I really really hate the way she left and he needed to actually fly over to see her because they're both so terrible at texting. I could never do a long-distance. Also I think proposing after a year isn't long enough, and him basically moving to her city after seeing each other like 5 times, that's absurd. (hide spoiler)]
