Looking for a fantasy book that I read in 80/90s!

Hi! I'm stuck. I'm trying to find a book that I read years ago. The genre is fantasy. The plot is a man shipwrecked on an island where he encounters figures from myths and legends. A lot of singing takes place. The word 'Silver' is relevant to somehow, but I can't remember why. I recall the paperback having a bearded fellow with a cheerful smile and a beer stein for some reason. I also remember that the book was very popular with Renaissance Faires and someone turned the poems/songs into actual drinking songs. Any suggestions on what this book could be?
