Hero withholds on heroine

I was reading an otherwise lukewarm HP--The Sicilian's Innocent Mistress (Sicilian Gambrelli's Saga Book 3) and there is a scene where the angry hero brings heroine to the edge of fulfillment repeatedly (basically edging) as a punishment for believing he's a manslut and avenging his ill-use of her friend (ironically his casual treatment of women is real, just not about her friend specifically). I've only seen this in one other HP, also a vengeful hero The Italian's Passionate Revenge (Red-Hot Revenge). I was pretty shocked by these scenes in an HP, I'm used to seeing orgasm denial in bdsm, not HPs! the Gordon book has a better basis for hero's anger (and has hero work long and hard for redemption), but I was still surprised...anyone seen a scene like this in an HP where hero either ultimately finished the job or walks out?
