How to Send Messages Through API

I'd like to be able to send a message to a particular user (friend) by using the API. I assume this is possible since it's in the iPhone app.

Could you let me know the API to use? Thanks!

We do not have a public API for user to users messages at this time. Sorry.


What is your exact use case?

I'd like people in our group to be able to sign up to be able to be notified when buddy read's are coming up for books on their to-read list. Then have an automated message sent to them notifying them that the buddy read is coming up.
