Well, can't say that I wasn't warned. This is a weird book.

There was a bit of magic going throughout the story. A magical undercurrent that seemed interesting. Different narratives with interesting things happening.

There's a moment in the book when the narrator brings up Creta and Malta again and he bascially thinks to himself, "oh well, what happened to them? there not around anymore." It's a pretty valid question isn't it?

But at the end of the book the answer was just *magic*. Or more specifically that main bad guy in the book was using some sort of sex magic to gain some sort of power in real life as well as in some other dimension. Then the narrator almost dies by magic and gets saved by a magic ex machina.

Which is to say, I'm failing to really see the themes here, or what, if anything, this book is trying to say.
