It seems the snarky comments and phrases I loved in that may have come from Pratchett rather than Gaiman. This book is filled with great phrases and made me snicker constantly. "It was the kind of storm that suggests that the whole sky has swallowed a diuretic." The story is not that amazing but the way it is told generates such strong visuals in the imagination that reading it is a lot more enjoyable than it should be.
Pratchett has a turn of phrase which could make a phone directory fun to read. The idea of a accidentally passing on his staff to a girl instead of a boy in a town called Bad Ass is the start of the story. The rest is her fight to become a wizard despite being a girl (apparently Bad Ass and the whole of Discworld is quite sexist) and the adventures she has on the way.

Nice review Jen. It's odd that I never heard of him before I joined goodreads. I'm definitely going to start this series in 2020. I haven't read any of his books yet, including Good Omens. I hope 1983 gets called soon in the Bingo game soon. Thanks!
