SOLVED. Stealing memories with a camera, horror novel or short story. [s]

I read this book a few years ago, but I can't remember the title or author. I remember there was a kid who found out that a strange man is steeling his neighbour's memories with a camera, and it's causing dementia in her. That's all I know for sure, the other vague memories might be getting confused from another story. There was maybe a nursing home the woman whoes memories were stolen was in. The kid who is the main character visits her all her life. Her own son is useless, but his mother adored him. The memory thief had a fancy car?
