Hi! I hope someone can help me as it’s driving me insane. I once read a book about 10 years ago that to the best of my memory was about a girl (possibly a changeling) and a boy who eventually becomes king of a nation. It’s at a time where the old Druid/Celtic/pagan? Ways are being replaced by another religion but the old gods are still present. I think at one point there’s a yearly ceremony where the kings sacrifice a girl by drowning her but then this is stopped? Ugh hell!

It was the first book in I believe a trilogy. I know one of the other books also centers around the Kings assassin escorting a noble woman to marry a guy that is cursed to turn into a hawk or falcon? Of course love triangle shenanigans ensue but she falls for the hawk man.

I’ll probably never figure it out but I appreciate the responses omg!
