Edward Davies | 1727 comments I might have to look through my favourites and chuck them in here. 😺

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments Wow, I've got to revisit this. If it was you that came up with it Courtney, awesome job!

Now I have to follow through and find the stories I wanted to do but didn't get the chance lol!

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4483 comments This is my opinion but...

before I share mine, just who on here has in the WSS been on here the longest?

So to M, Al, Hanzle, and to anyone else who is still active on here....

do YOU remember any stories you planned to do when other people posted their stories but didn't get the chance to "tell" them on here...?

M | 11617 comments As far as I know, Alex and Hanzle have been in the group longer than any of the other current members. They were among the group’s original members. The W.S.S. was modeled on another group virtually identical to it. The original moderator was Sunny, who in March of 2009 posted the first story. Alex became head moderator a few months later and was the group’s dynamo and guiding light for years.

Wow that is so interesting. I am so glad to hear some of the history of this greatly thought-of group! :D

M | 11617 comments Kat is one of the original members of the W.S.S. Alex’s “My Mischief Poem” was the first entry in the weekly poetry contest, but Kat beat her to the draw in the short-story contest with “Dragon Curse” (Week 3). Alex’s first entry, “Never Bite the Hand That Feeds You” (Starring Henri Le Foote), appeared in Week 4. Alex posted it under the pen name “Tainted Love.” In Week 10, Kat posted a story under the pen name “Artemis, Goddess of the Night, Hunter of Evil.”

Kat’s first comment in the W.S.S. was, “you should close this topic since its over now . . .” Her second comment, a few minutes later, was, “you should close this topic since its over now . . .” Her third comment, a few hours later, was, “you should close this topic since its over now . . .” Her fourth comment, the next day, was, “you should close this topic since its over now . . .”

M | 11617 comments This is the group the W.S.S. began as a copy of. It’s been so long since there was any activity, I’m surprised it’s still there.

It occurs to me that the W.S.S. has evolved into the S.M.S.S. (Semi-Monthly Short Story) group.

LOL. That's funny.

Sounds kinda like something I would do to be honest. I struggled with O. C. D. for a good deal of my life (maybe half of that or less now I don't remember too well)...

I checked it out. That's really cool!

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 661 comments I didn't join the group until 2015 or 2016, I think. I remember loving the history the members shared. I still like that aspect and I hope we can build it back up to what it was years ago, before I was even around.

M | 11617 comments I don’t remember how I came across the original group. I was probably browsing writers’ groups and stumbled on it. That must have been nearly a decade ago. I knew that its striking similarity to the W.S.S. had to be more than a coincidence. That one of the moderators of the original group was in the W.S.S. also seemed further evidence of that. It’s likely that I asked Alex about it, but I can’t remember.

That the original group had languished into inactivity, while the W.S.S. was flourishing, intrigued me. Since the groups were virtually identical in the way they were set up, it seemed that the answer must lie in the nature of the interactions going on among the members. What I remember about the W.S.S. is that actively participating members came and went; that at any time there were never more than a few of them; but that those few were very active, such that often the activity seemed to reach almost a fever pitch.
