Rachael Hobson (bostonbookbitty) I finished the book last week, and I can't seem to remember where my major reactions took place in the book, so I'll just talk about it here! SPOILERS- I thought Alice's grandparents were adorable. They tried so hard to support Alice in any way possible. When the attack happened at their house I was so relieved that they were fine. Of course, that was really short lived...I was crushed to find out the grandfather was bit. I was confused by the visions between Alice and Cole. They (the visions) seem to be important. I can only imagine that they will be explained in the next book. I thought for sure Kat seemed pale and withdrawn because she was being tested with the zombies that the other side was capturing. I thought she had started the rumor, and I thought there was going to be some huge reveal showing her betrayal at the end. I'm glad I was wrong. Alice really needs a friend! I kind of wished Justin's motives were revealed. I was confused that he decided to help them at the last second. Overall, I liked the story. However, it should have a different title. It gives the impression that it's related to Alice in Wonderland when it's actually an original story. I have never heard of this book before. Thanks for the recommendation!

Rating: 4/5

Caitlin (Bend the Bookshelf) (bendthebookshelf) I’m not sure how long this book has been on my “To Read” bookshelf, but I have found myself with the trilogy sitting there staring out at me and begging me to read them. I finally picked up this first book as there is a zombie theme this month for Little Book Owl’s online book club on Goodreads called “Little Book Club” who the majority of voted to read the book — so I joined them and picked it up too.

My favourite character had to be Cole, in this novel. Hot, badass, violent yet sweet — all of that. Followed closely by a tie between Ali and Kat. Ali because she went from giving in to her Dad’s opinions and fears, to showing how badass and take-charge she could really be. Kat because she was still down to earth and herself even when horrible things happened to her.

I think the only problems I found were that there was not really much connection to the Alice in Wonderland story that we have come to know; basically only the name and the rabbit came through, with a couple of chapter titles thrown in. Also that in this first book (Alice in Zombieland) you never really find out what caused the visions that only Cole and Ali can see between them, but hopefully that will uncover itself within the next book of the series.

It was a good take on zombies though as they are still the cracking, wounded, groaning type of zombies that everyone seems to like. Yet the twist is that they are on the spirit plane and aren’t tangible to humans in natural form. Hmm.

Overall, it was still a pretty good book.

Rating: 4/5

Amanda (roguepanda) Absolutely loved this book! Have had on my shelf since first published, so I'm glad we had this book, as the chosen book of the month, to motivate me to read it. Loved so much I ordered the next two books. So excited!

Myriam Doo (myriamdoo) | 4 comments I just finished the book and I totally loved it!!

--SPOILERS--

I love the whole idea of this girl which she can just throw a pity party to her because she has lost almost everything but she didn't. She chose to fight and try to keep other people form the same misery that she has been through. I am so glad she found Kat, which is someone I think we all should have in out lives this one true and inconditional friend who is there no matter what, so when she drop the kidney bomb I was like "SERIOUSLY Gena???".

And Cole, OMG I love him!! He is this badass boy who everyone is scare of (except our Ali of course), and he turns out to be this really good guy who actually fights evil so he can keep safe the humanity!! He likes Ali and he will do anything to keep her safe. He has Justin Silverstone on the eye because he know that he will do something to take Ali to her team, so imagine my surprise when at the end it was JUSTIN who help Cole to find Ali after he discovers the plans of his team.

So after several deaths, and the profecy of Emma (Ali's sister who is dead and comes to Ali to try to change her mind about being a Zombie Hunter) that said things were not going to be okay with Cole, Kat's kidney disease and having to kill his own dad who was trined to kill her (because YES he was a zombie)... The ending just let me on Ali falling asleep...

Lucky I read this when the sequel is out, otherwise the waiting will be awful!!

Roda | 3 comments This book was not what I expected. *spoilers below*

The zombies were spirit zombies. The attack wasn't that shocking. Kat started out as my favourite character but her very nature started to grate by the end.

Cole is a traditional bad boy who's also got a sweet side. Ali had her prioritises confused. Worrying about if a boy likes you when you're in mortal danger?

Kat's old friends suck for abandoning her.

All these things culminate in me awarding this book 1.5/5

Stephanie Noel (wherestephaniereads) | 9 comments I loved the book. What a great read. This is my book since joining the Little Book Club and i'm glad I joined. I also loved the characters especially Cole. He is so hot and sexy. Badass all over and have great lines. I like the interaction between Cole and Alice. I also like Kat and frosty its a funny relationship. I love the grandparents when they question both Justin and Cole. They also are funny when trying to use cool lingo. I can't wait till the next book.

Emily I finished! I really enjoyed this book and its characters. I thought the zombie slayers were awesome and I like how the author went in depth about the background on the zombies and Ali's abilities. Three out of five stars. :)

Ivy I loved the way the zombies were. They weren't people coming back to life but they were sports that have always been there.
