ABANDONED. Book that end in a wizard summoning a demigod to win fight in a throne room

Read a book when I was younger don't remember much about it just remember at the end there was a throne room and the heroes are almost defeated but their wizards summons a demigod when he's laying on the floor I think it's the second in the series I think the first was called something like the princes sword or something similar but I honestly can't remember been looking for years I think it also started in the mountains with some wolves or something like that hunting the heroes any help would be amazing

I think the main character was a young boy and after the wolves they get sealed in a cave by an ice collapse I think the cover was quite dark

What year did you read it? Remember the cover? Is it by a male or female author? What age reader is it aimed at?

I probably read it about 2002 but I don't think it was a new book from the way it was written I would guess a male author and probably young adult

there was a wizard a young boy who i believe was some sort of squire in the first book but joined the party after discovering some destiny then were two like hunter soldier type characters a male and a female i think the male gets his back broken at the end
