Greg | 108 comments A couple of weeks ago, I added two perfect-bound issues of a new magazine to the GR database and made a series for them. The series is here: https://www.goodreads.com/series/2797.... I left out individual issue numbers in the titles of the two issues I added on the basis that the numbers would be visible in the automatically generated parentheses by the inclusion of these two issues in the series. But was this the right way of going about this?

Olivia (livka) | 7926 comments As per Goodreads policy to be considered a series books need to have a continuous story-line, characters in common. Issues of magazine will therefore not be considered a series and the series page for them should not be created.
Please refer to the Librarian Manual for more details.

Greg | 108 comments Thanks, Olivia, for getting back to me and also for removing the 'series'. I did actually use the manual at the time I created it but didn't realise that Goodreads policy had changed with respect to its definition of the term 'series'.

In my opinion, the manual's entry on 'Adding books to a new or existing series' needs to be edited so that the definition appears in the first paragraph instead of in the third last one. It would also help if it was made explicit that periodicals are not considered a series (currently, the emphasis in the definition deals with imprints).

I've added issue numbers to the titles of each issue of Dirty Girls Magazine to differentiate them (as per other periodicals).

The publisher had requested the inclusion of the URL but I guess it's not in line with GR policy either (presumably on the basis that the publisher's Web site must contain 'additional information or resources not on Goodreads'). Would the URL not be useful for the ebook version though?
