Jaina Rose (ireadtilldawn) | 52 comments This was a series I read as a kid from my church library and looking back I can't believe how weird it was. The allegorical Christian kids all had scooters that could fly, and in one of them a kid joins them and gets a scooter. In one book (I assume the last one) some people come to town and start putting marks on everyone's hands. The Christians refuse to get their hands marked, but the brother of one of them does. In the end there's some sort of rapture and all of the scooter people fly into the sky and go to Heaven, and then the boy who got marked is walking around his town seeing that everyone is gone/?possibly dead.

Also, in one of the earlier ones, I remember that the girl who was the main character in that one mentioned how she always hated to hear sirens, because she was afraid for whoever the ambulance was going to help. And I think she went to visit a grandparent in some sort of hospital/nursing home a few times.

I read this around 2009. It was a church library and didn't look like a new book series (the other ones I read from there were the original Elsie Dinsmore books). If any of you have read it, I'm sure you'll recognize it immediately - there aren't many books with this description lol.

Joy | 24 comments Are you sure it was scooters and not flying bicycles? If it was bikes, it could be the Spirit Flyer series by John Bibee https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
I only read the first one, so I don't know if the plot details match the one of the later books, but it was a Christian allegory with the magic flying bicycles representing the Christian faith.

Jaina Rose (ireadtilldawn) | 52 comments I don't recognize the covers of the Sprit Flyer series, but the plot sounds about right. I think it may have actually been bikes.

Jaina, I notice your request is marked Solved. Just to confirm, is your book series "Spirit Flyer" starting with The Magic Bicycle by John Bibee - Joy's suggestion?
