Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Iain, I haven't read that book either. Since it is a stand alone I always seemed to push it for later. Yes, he is definitely determined on the "message". I don't mind, because I think it is a good thing for young readers. I remember how much I tried to model my own character after the "good guys" in fantasy when I was a kid... I am actually encouraged that there is still Fantasy out there to do that for young readers, because it is missing more and more from the real life messages we are getting every day. I am actually about to donate two sets of this series to a children's cancer charity. They work with some teenagers as well, and I was thinking that since they spend a lot of time at home, this would be fun for some of them... Hopefully. I hope it is not a bit too dark... Well, now I am all worried...

Looks like we'll be doing at least Riyria Revelations next year so there is that :) Malcolm, Maywndule, Trilos... they all have a lot more to do still.

Would be fun to read the original series with everyone.
Love Royce and Hadrian.

Tammie | 5959 comments I finished this. I feel like this series got weaker as it progressed. I'm satisfied with the way things ended for everyone. I knew it would be bitter-sweet. This book lacked a spark the the previous books had. Usually even if I'm not completely enjoying the story line in a MJS book, the characters save the book for me. This time around they had some good moments, but something was missing.

Yea, like I said before, the bigger picture stuff with the gods are what most interested me...
