Yes!! I love that cover too, I have that one at home and it's so beautiful, and it makes more sense when you know the story a little bit.

Lucija | 294 comments I'm currently reading chapter 16. I don't know if I'm just imagining things, but I feel like I'm reading really fast. But, maybe that's just because WoK and WoR were so long, so this one feels like a short novel haha

Chapter 9 (view spoiler)

BEWARE ENDING SPOILERS for those that didn't read Warbreaker already (or don't remember and don't want to haha) (view spoiler)

Yes, that's true! Reading old favorites like they are new is definitely a great perk of being forgetful haha!

And forgot to comment on this haha

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Lucija, I read very purposefully this time specifically so I can see the crossovers and the hints of who is good or bad, and I noticed Sanderson does give a ton of clues, but he does it in a very matter of fact way, so it doesn't seem like foreshadowing. The only very obvious one, and not in the second Mistborn series, is usually Hoid. He is always telling stories or begging or exchanging information... (view spoiler)

Vasher is my favorite character in Warbreaker for sure. However, I hate Sadeas in WoR, but he would be awesome if he was even a bit more complex. I am saying that, because he really reminds me of Lightsong in outer attitude, but we can see that Lightsong is putting up a front of being shallow and uncaring, while he has a good and unselfish heart... But they have a lot in common in speech patterns.

message 755: by Paula (new) - rated it 5 stars

Paula (paula7) | 1941 comments Choko, I didn't realize that about lightsong and sadeas but it fits. My favourite is lightsong.

Lucija, let's hope that the name is a coincidence haha

Lucija | 294 comments I just finished chapter 31

I also have an art question. At one point Vasher says that he didn't consider black to be a colour before. Isn't that because it isn't? At least, that's what my art teacher used to say, white and black aren't colours haha

message 760: by Choko (new) - rated it 5 stars

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Yeah, but some art theory says that black and the combination of all darkest hues of all colors... And yet, classical artist never used it, but achieved its effects by combination of other colors...

For all those who have read the three books of the Stormlight Archives, I am only 85% in the second book, but please, tell me that we are not going to have a love triangle with K, S and A?!!!??!!!??? Please!!!

Paula (paula7) | 1941 comments I've only read until words of radiance but in my opinion it points that way

message 762: by Choko (new) - rated it 5 stars

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Paula, me too and I hate that!!! I want something to work out for Adolin without having to compete with Kaladin... I love them both, don't get me wrong, but I want someone other than the boy-wonder to have something special going for them apart from dueling, let's say...

message 763: by Paula (new) - rated it 5 stars

Paula (paula7) | 1941 comments I agree, though it doesn't bother me as much. I love all of them so I'll be happy and sad one way or another

Anni | 5066 comments I started as well :) I really enjoy the new world and the magic system, it took me a bit to get used to it tho, it's again pretty different from both the Stormlight and Mistborn. It reminded me a little bit of Elantris, can't say exactly why, maybe because parts of Elantris were described colorless as well...

Just realized how hard it is to comment when you already know what's going to happen haha

Huh, didn't make that connection between Elantris and Warbreaker, but honestly I don't remember much of Elantris. It was the first Sanderson book I read and I read it years ago.

And I agree about Siri, I like her a lot. And about Lightsong.

message 769: by Choko (new) - rated it 5 stars

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments So I have caught up with you guys, and was wondering, did anyone read Edgedancer? I accidentally finished that one as well, and although it has a bunch of important additional information for the story progression, am I the only one who thinks Lift is probably the most annoying character Sanderson has ever created???

message 770: by Choko (new) - rated it 5 stars

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments About the love triangle - I didn't expect that from Sanderson in this type of book setting. We already have plenty of action, intrigues, plotting and subplots going, we didn't need that. I am OK with all of them learning more about each other and developing respect and friendships, but not romance like that... Also, Shallan is so sheltered, she had not had any boys relationships while at home, and it seems like every attractive and somewhat paying attention to her boy becomes a potential love interest... Stop it, Shallan!!!

message 771: by Beena (new) - rated it 4 stars

Beena (beenz) | 2196 comments Man, you lot have got a lot further ahead then me, I'd better get a move on! I'll crack on with it it tonight! It's taking me a bit longer to get into this as, as you said Anni, it's so completely different to Stormlight. I get the feeling I should have read this before and then I could've read all of Stormlight in a row... Ah well. Hopefully it'll pick up I'm currently wondering (view spoiler)

message 775: by Anni (new) - rated it 4 stars

Anni | 5066 comments I've read Edgedance awhile ago and I agree Lift is a bit annoying, but I somehow still enjoy her parts. Maybe I'm just strange 😂
I think Sanderson wrote her that way on purpose, to leave a lot of room for her to grow :)

Plus for me Shallan takes the price home for Sanderson's most annoying character 🤷🏼‍♀️

message 776: by Choko (new) - rated it 5 stars

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Hahaha! Shallan is also somewhat annoying. No, I like Lift, I just want her to want to grow up and that is obviously something she doesn't want to do. I know she is only 13 years old, but even at thirteen most people want to make some strides... Her blatant desire to stay a child, even understanding her though process of how she got there, just bugs the hell out of me...

Same, though it was nice that Shallan managed to cheer him up for a bit, he needs a bit of happiness in his life.

Yeah, I didn't expect it either, I think you're right that it wasn't really needed, though it did provide a bit of light heartedness. I've eventually come round to the thought that Adolin and Shallan could be good together, even though I wasn't keen on it a first. They do kinda compliment each other. Yeah I do think Shallan needs to be her own person and really build her character before jumping into all these relationships, but tbf that betrothal was set up by Jasnah.

Yeah, I agree, but I must say I kinda enjoyed it. Slow pacing doesn't bother me usually, in fact, I prefer it if it's executed properly. It let's me ease into the story and get to know the characters before everything goes to hell haha. But I definitely agree that Vivenna's parts weren't as good as the others (and I didn't like her very much, so that didn't help eather).

message 787: by Beena (new) - rated it 4 stars

Beena (beenz) | 2196 comments That's good to know Paula.

message 788: by Beena (new) - rated it 4 stars

Beena (beenz) | 2196 comments Glad you enjoyed it Lucija. I just need some action! Haha. I'm sure it'll get there eventually, it seems more a magic and intrigue kind of book on the whole. Yeah, I agree, the others viewpoints are a lot more enjoyable for me too. Maybe it's because she's so serious and superior all the time?

I think Stormlight's more my jam, even though it can be a little hard to keep up with at times, I like that it never stops, it's literally one thing after another. I need to be kept on my toes lol

message 789: by Lucija (new) - rated it 4 stars

That's how I feel as well :) Definitely slower but I somehow really enjoy the change of pace. I'm still with you Beena in liking Stormlight more, it's hard to reach that level of awesomeness :D

Vivenna's parts are also my least favorite... I still love Denth and Tonk Fah and their humor. I'm also really curious to learn more about them as I suspect them to be more than just mercenaries
