Not much was revealed about it (do take your time reading, you'll probably catch up in no time either way :D). My guess is it's that witch (can't remember what they called her) that grants wishes, but gives some kind of a curse in return (eg Dalinar not beeing able to remember his wife, or that guy who saw everything upside-down afterwards), but then again, I don't know what Lift's curse would be, so it might not be that... He's even more impressive, just him and his spear against full shardplate and shardblades, awesome. It was such a close call too! Amaram shows his true colours by not stepping up, the bastard. (So annoying that Dalinar can't see through him!) Oh, I really felt for Renarin too, bless him he's so pure and has such a good heart, he just doesn't have the aptitude to be a warrior. Ahhh, I hope not! I had hoped the kindness he'd been shown by Kaladin would be enough to sway him somehow... but he's definitely up to something. Lol, he'll always be Shen to me.


Catching up on your spoilers:

Chapter 52 was so cool, both Shallan and Kaladin displaying their abilities. Kaladin was so carefree and joyous, I loved it.

Me too! I hope we can see more of him like that. I know it isn't going to be likely soon, but hopefully later.. I just wish he could find some small measure of happiness, he deserves it.

About Shallan [I agree with you guys, I like her more this time around. She is getting competent. Her witticism is sometimes still a bit to forced IMO, but it's not so glaring as before

Hoid is back! About the flute. I'm not sure if I remember that correctly, but when Shallan was at Amarams place, some servant there was cleaning the flutes, right? Could the flute have ended up there?

I can't see how he would've got hold of it. It would've been in Bridge four's old barrack in Sadeas's warcamp, I'd have assumed that they got rid of/ destroyed their old stuff.


But damn that ending... I love you Kaladin, but you are in the wrong here. He is getting completely obsessed with Amaram. And I get it, I do, it's just that... well, as Syl says, I don't like what he get like when thinking about Amaram. Maybe I would've felt stronger about Amaram if we got more around him. As it is, we've seen him in the past and we've seen his betrayal, but I just don't feel as strongly about it as I would if he were something that happened to Kaladin in the present and something we'd see him go through.

Agree, he is in the wrong. And I think Dalinar was very right in saying that he should be acting the soldier not the child, he should be above petty revenge, he is the better man by far. Thinking about revenge does twist him and his perceptions, he doesn't act as he normally would. Honestly, I get why it eats him up so much, Amaram was the first lighteyes he upheld and truly respected and he turned round and did him so dirty like that. He killed his friends, he ruined his life, of course it scarred him deeply. But I think for his own sake, he needs to let it go and trust that Amaram will get what's coming to him for being the utter snake that he is. He could be so much more but this is what is really holding him back, from progressing with his powers and progressing with his life.

On the other hand, Kaladin is still just a fresh soldier and even though he proved capable and saved Dalinars life more than once, Dalinar still doesn't know much about him.
That's logic, I know, and Kaladin's strong feelings about Amaram prevent him from thinking logically. Oh, Kaladin don't take it out on Dalinar.
I fear this will lead to Kaladin siding with Moash to kill the king. And it does not bode well for Adolin/Kaladin/Dalinar triangle.

I know, the problem here is that they both need to trust each other more and lay everything bare. Kaladin isn't aware of everything that Dalinar is working for, yes he's been privy to their private meetings, but he isn't aware of Dalinar's visions and how critical it is to the world that he unite Alethkar. Granted he should listen to and obey Dalinar anyway because he's under his command and is a soldier, but Kaladin needs more than that given how severely he's been betrayed by lighteyes. And Dalinar isn't to know the full extent of the past calamities in Kaladin's life. And there's the conundrum. They both need to trust each other completely but are working against the clock. I really hope he won't be so rash as to kill Elhokar. :(

It may seem to dalinar like nothing, just a small time waiting until he is released...but kaladin was a slave and that is a very bad way to remind him all the bad things the llighteyes can do. And it hurts seing kaladin that way, retreating to were he was at first in WoK. He will now agree to kill the king for sure. And amaram bribing people to think he was the one who killed the shardblades...smart, but unfortunately dalinar believed amaram, obviously because he was his friend and he is biased towards him. The Parshendi killed Gavilar because they didn't want him to bring back their gods and if he was working with Amaram that must mean they must have been the Voidbringers! -I've long thought the Parshendi alone can't be the Voidbringers, no matter what Jasnah believes, there's something more, possibly what the Heralds where fighting against in the first book, which we never actually saw... So, so true about Kaladin still helping a lighteyes even after what happened with Amaram. It shows the sort of man he could be. Yesss, I loved how they worked together and impressed Adolin had the strength in him to move in his shardplate after it was out of Stormlight. That shout/ scream or whatever was coming from whatever Pattern was doing to distract him I think..

I'm really really worried about Syl :( Her weeping when Kaladin held the Shardblade broke my heart. Where has she gone?? I hope she can find her way back to him.. I really miss her. And Kaladin realises just how much he needs her, not just for the Stormlight and his powers, but her actual presence and the light that she brings him.

So crazy that him and Shallan are in this whole mess in the chasms and if he could use his powers he could've flown them out of there so easily. Going after the chasmfiend was brave but crazy of him without being able to use stormlight. The part where they shared their stories with each other during the highstorm though... he's realised what she is and also that he killed her brother... will he confront her and also admit what he did... 85 - Oh damnnnn I just now realized it was Renarin who's been writing the numbers, ohhh didn't even occure to me
It's so good to see the bridgemen receiving the recognition they deserve (well, this time, mostly Adolin being grateful for their help, but I liked that)
Roion finding his courage was a beautiful scene, it's a shame it wasn't rewarded... and bridgemen deciding to fight even though they've seen what has happened to other soldiers... so good

Ohhh Pattern is the sword! Of course, it makes sense, but the knowledge about spren and blades was so fresh I didn't catch all the implications right away... that's why she didn't have to wait ten heartbeats and the sword could change shape

Oh! That part where Dalinar said to Kaladin that he's what he's been looking for. If only he knew how right he was! I thought for sure his secret would be revealed then!

Eshonai interlude- Venli had plotted this all along! She knew what the form really was!

Taravangian interlude- He went to the Nightwatcher; is that the same thing Dalinar went to, that made him forget about his wife? As you can ask for something but also have to pay a price... Can't remember... (Speaking of which, I've always wondered if Dalinar forgetting everything about his wife was the curse or the gift, would be interesting to find out).

Taravangian knew abut Shallan and what she could do? That Jasnah could soulcast? Helaran had the ability to use stormlight too? How does he know all this??

And now he knows of Kaladin too!! Aaahhh....

Woah, so Gavilar had the visions too and he confided in Taravangian! Whaaattttt. I don't know how he thinks he's going to unite the world by killing all the elite...
