Amr Okasha | 1 comments I have struggled to find a clear definition for Idea, Thought, and Creativity.
There were many many different definitions on different levels, then I decided to be more creative, and I made my definition, precisely what I think Idea and thought is. Then I invented a new model for creative thinking to sharpen the individual's mind to create new ideas or re-innovate old ones.
The definition I have put for the Idea, and thought helps to understand the creativity of individuals and explain it to individuals too. Here is the definition of Thought “The ability of the conscious (understanding dimension) AND unconscious (emotional dimension) mind to process information in a typical or atypical way and to produce an idea, solve a problem or make a decision.”
As you can see, this definition contains three distinct elements: i) both conscious and unconscious thoughts, ii) new (atypical) and familiar (typical) thoughts, and iii) a purpose.
It is clear to me that both the conscious and unconscious parts of the human mind are constantly creating and searching for patterns that can be put together in useful thoughts. In the case of typical thoughts, this happens so quickly that we’re not even aware of it.
The definition of Idea: An idea is the relatively concrete output of a finite conscious or subconscious process that occurs within the brain in response to a conscious request by the mind for answers concerning a particular problem, task, or opportunity.
To put it another way, thoughts arise unbidden within the mind, whereas ideas (sooner or later) emerge as an output from the mind, in response to our own mental request for an answer.
Thus, we can have thoughts without ideas, but we can never have an idea without first having thoughts. The more we program our brains to scan for useful ideas, the more effectively we can train our neurons and neurotransmitters to generate thoughts that are likely to result in a useful idea.
BrainTwister model built on these concrete definitions and provide a clear procedure to create or develop Thought/Ideas in four steps: Suspicion, Conversion, Approval, and Belief where Idea become a mature idea.
The known issues with Brainstorming in business meetings are fear of proposing unmatured ideas in front of people who may think you are stupid or who already dislike you, so they definitely will criticize your ideas in a way you don’t like.
BrainTwister solved these issues for individuals by helping them to elect and evolve their best thoughts/ideas to maturity, make them believe in their ideas, then they will be able to present it as a mature idea in business brainstorming meetings with no fear of unfair criticism.
