Michele Abrams Lehn (mabramslehn) | 428 comments I’m in Minnesota. Feeling fine but basically self-quarantined so reading to break up the boredom. Weather isn’t nice enough to go for walks- much to my dog’s dismay. I’m a retired nurse and have no intention to return to work. My husband is also a nurse and he’s still working- much to my dismay. During these scary times I find reading to be a welcome distraction. Unfortunately I suffer chronic migraine and can no longer go to my pain clinic. I would love to hear from other team members as to how you are coping. We have this great group that can help one another. I would love to hear from anyone interested in sharing.

A big worry where I live is how the hospital staff is coping :(

We haven't closed schools yet - universities and high schools closed today but the government doesn't want to close the lower grades yet because of worry of hospitals etc not having enough staff if people have to stay home with the kids.

Alla, I heard that Háskolí Íslands has closed for the next month. I used to work there but moved away from Iceland last year.

That's actually really smart. Not remembering where Iceland was in the world (I thought it was closer to Norway/Sweden), I looked it up and read some really interesting facts about Iceland. It sounds like a really nice place to live!

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 505 comments All schools have pretty much closed in LA. I live about 7 miles from my office and my commute usually takes about 40-45 minutes because of traffic. I had to go into the office today to do some bills and it only took about 25 minutes today. At 7:30pm when I was coming home, it was crazy to see so few cars on the roads. Seeing it on tv is 1 thing, seeing it with your eyes is another. Like it made it that much more real. Absolutely surreal. And made it even more scary. Unfortunately I am a smoker. I quit last year for a while but then ended up starting again. It makes me more scared since my lungs aren't exactly 100%... Nothing like this scare to get me motivated to stop again!

They have closed down all the Universities, all the...I don´t know the english word...but we call it Framhaldsskóli (it´s a mix of high school and college, ages 16-20) for the until mid April. The schools for the age group from 6 to 15 are still open, but I think it´s only matter of time when they close too. The cases of infected people went from 250 yesterday morning and up to 330 just this morning :(
On my island it went from 3 yesterday morning and is up to 8 this morning.

I love living here and especially on my island. I can´t say the weather is any good ;) but apart from the "cold" weather, I wouldn´t want to be anywhere else. It´s very safe and very low in crimes and things like that. You should visit (some day when it´s safe to travel the world again).
Check this out, this is where I live:

The Vegetarian works for the 5 Red book so if you don't want to read I, Robot, we can use that one instead. That was one strange book!

Can you please add Girl, Interrupted, Five Feet Apart & Stillhouse Lake to your UNO shelf?

That was very cool, thank you for sharing the video! It is really beautiful and looks like there's a lot to do. Living 1st in Seoul and then in LA, I don't know what I'd do with all that fresh air hahaha :) I'm allergic to cold weather now so it would definitely have to be when it was warm.

So there is now a Stay at Home Order in CA so not sure how that's going to impact everything. With all these businesses having to close, we're going to be in a world of hurt if our clients aren't paying their bills because they are closed too. We have big expenses like payroll that still need to be processed so I'm super stressed now.

Summer time would be best to visit Iceland, then we have about...15°C at avarage :)

Yeah this corona virus is going to hit harder for companies and just everyone than the financial crisis in 2008. Here in Iceland buisness owners, fish factories that import all their fish out of the country, the travel industry, airlines...just every one will be very affected by this and I know many companies will not survive this, because this has barely started.
We get daily update that is on the tv here in Iceland, where we get updates on how many are infected, how many are seriously ill, adviced how to go about our lives, adviced how to talk to our kids, how we can support the older people who can´t go out and all kinds of things that they cover every day (very helpful). The said yesterday that they think we might hit our peak around the 8th of April, and that is far away at the moment and it´s talked about that Italy has not hit their peak yet and hundreds are dying over there now, every single day.
All of you, stay safe, take this very seriously, keep all contact in minimum, wash and stay clean and try to remember ( I know that can be tricky) to not bring your hands to your face.
I hope we all get through this in the best way possible.
Stay strong :*
