I am not sure Helen, I don't particularly like PDF format either, but have found them much easier to read through the Netgalley app or Bluefire app

I downloaded the netgalley app to my tablet for another one I got a while ago had it there to read but when I went to read it, it told me it had expired so no more for me I prefer to read on my kindle, thanks for your help

I don't mind reading the occasional book on my iPad as long as it is a good one (like this one!) but I really hope Netgalley sticks with Kindle overall.

That happened to me too once, I clicked on the book and a pop up came up and asked if I would like an extension, so I said yes, and it renewed it for another 30 days.

Janelle | 635 comments I read on my iPad so prefer the NetGalley app to the kindle app. Just have to make sure I read before the archive date.

Wow, Carolyn, you must be special! When I search William Morrow, even under "All Publishers" I see exactly zero books. And you got that Gilly MacMillan book too, do you have a UK address or something?

Sorry about that, I picked it up a while ago so maybe it's no longer available (apologies for not posting here before). I've had that happen to me when someone's told me about I book they think I'd like but I can't find it listed or it's a 'wish for it'.

I only have an Au address but I've reviewed a few books for William Morrow and a lot for Random House so seem to get approved. There are a lot of publishers I don't get approved for (aka St Martins!)

Well, when I look at William Morrow, I see no titles, not even under "previously on NetGalley" so you must have a different privilege. I can't even see the books to request them.

message 1119: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9836 comments Maybe it was some sort of mistake, but I'm happy to have it and would still have requested it from HC if that was the only option. I hope everyone who requests it gets approved :)

I have it on request, but it's via Netgalley UK (netgalley . com . uk), rather than US Netgalley (netgalley . com).

Thanks Brenda. You reminded me to check with the library and I am first on the list and they are buying three copies! The only problem is when they take forever to process the new books which does happen:(

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments RE: The Murder Rule by Dervla McTiernan

I saw Sarah's comment above about NetGalley UK, so I logged in this evening and requested it there, but they said, you've already requested this. That's true. I had a request pending in AU.

They used to be pretty separate, but we can't hide now. I often got UK editions when we didn't have any available.

HOWEVER, I just received approval from the UK and got a copy. You never know your luck in the big city, eh? Or the bush.

Give it another shot and maybe you'll score one, too! Thanks for the inspiration, Sarah. 😊

message 1127: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Wow, I didn't realise there even was NetGalley UK. I logged in there and saw quite a different range of books. And have requested The Murder Rule from them, I didn't get the same warning about having already requested it, as Patty did. And I see it's available as Kindle PDF which at least is friendlier that the HCollins AU offer.

I don't know when I found www.netgalley.co.uk Marianne, but it didn't used to "see" my AU shelf. I guess they decide from time to time whether Aussie readers are allowed to read UK offerings.

The Amazons used to be more separate, too, but these days if you post a review on one, I don't think they want or need it on UK or US.

Sarah | 1543 comments PattyMacDotComma wrote: "Give it another shot and maybe you'll score one, too! Thanks for the inspiration, Sarah. 😊"

No worries, Patty! I don't often request books via NetGalley UK, but they quite often have titles that aren't available via the main .com site.

It used to be that all the publishers were on a single NG site but then they split them into UK/US (and Germany, maybe others) but they didn't stop you from requesting from either site.
I think it all depends on what regional rights the publishers have for the book. That's why a lot of US books aren't available to Australia and some UK books are (and why some books have more than one publisher).

That site lists Bonnier Echo as the Au publisher and Bonnier hasn't listed any books on NG since 2018. Is that the publisher your print copy is from Marianne?

My kindle download is formatted terribly, with random headings and lines different fonts etc. Stopped reading at 20% as I just couldn’t relax!
Have left a comment in the feedback section as I felt it should be counted towards my feedback count, considering the time I’ve spent on it. And a more detailed comment to the publisher. Interested if it’s just me or not?
