Hello I am looking for a series of books about kids in low income areas. They are all different stories of kids growing up in ghetto areas I can only remember some parts of some books. There is one where a kid gets shot in the park and a bunch of other similar stories. I read these books about 13 or 15 years ago back between 5th grade and 8th grade

Were the characters teenagers in high school, or younger kids?
