I love Stephen King books, there are quite a few good ones that aren't over 300 pages.

Ambi wrote: "What are your favorite books? It may also come in handy while reading for the Reverse Card."some of my favourite books include the Wayward Children series (Every Heart a Doorway is the first novel in the series), obviously all the Harry Potter books, Close to Home (first book of the DI Adam Fawley series which I sadly haven't continued yet), The Girl on the Train, The Poet X, Eliza and Her Monsters, We Are Okay and many many more.
some books might (depending on which edition you read) also work for blue covers
btw, an easy way to find which books your friends have read that you are also interested in is on their profile. just click 'More' and then 'Compare Books'.
And if you look at a certain book's page and scroll down a little bit you will see which of your friends have read/rated it before. Daniela and I will double check each finished book anyway to make sure it meets the requirements and to see if it might work for Reverse, so don't worry about it too much :)
Ooooohhhh I’m thinking of reading Eliza and Her Monsters next month! I might be able to do that for a reverse! I’m hoping to commit to more things on the first of the month once I get my Book Tac Toe card in my other reading group! My favorites books are probably The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, My Sister’s Keeper, The Rosie Project, and Me Before You.

I read it years ago though, way before goodreads was actually a thing (for me at least. and I put The Seven Husbands on my 'uno colours' list on scribd since it's obviously green! I don't think it'll work for February's green cards, but that's okay. I'll just save it for March or April :)
I absolutely loved loved loved Daisy Jones and the Six. Can’t wait to read her other books the next few months.
Recently I've been really in love with the Caraval series. I also love The Book Thief and Mosquitoland.
I'm hoping to start the Fault in Our Stars pretty soon- this has been on my TBR forever so now is finally the time ;)

Evelyn Hugo was hands down the best book I read in 2019. So good! I recommend it to everyone all the time! I did the audiobook of Daisy Jones and the Six, and also read One True Loves. Taylor Jenkins Reid is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Forever, Interrupted is on my 2020 TBR but my copy is not the blue cover so that is disappointing for UNO purposes.
Also, I definitely read My Sister’s Keeper around 10 years ago. Maybe I’ll reread it one of these days. And I really enjoyed The Fault In My Stars... that one has a blue cover too!
Ambi wrote: "I absolutely loved loved loved Daisy Jones and the Six. Can’t wait to read her other books the next few months."l listened to the audiobook of Daisy Jones in 2019 and really enjoyed it as well. when we found out who the 'interviewer' was? wow!

I keep saying that lol, but I also still haven't read it 🙈
It won't work as a cover colour as it's not 50+% blue, but it definitely works for Reverse :)

Last year my most memorable reading was the raven cycle, I really liked the series,l. The fault in our stars in one of my all time favourite as well.
The Raven Cycle series is good. My favourite books might be the Darker Shade of Magic series, well maybe The Queen's Thief Series, and Great Library series are also some of my favourite reads, at least I've gone back to read them all on multiple occasions (okay so I have several favourites). My first read for UNO is going to be Tunnel of Bones, which I'm excited to start.
Jen wrote: "The Raven Cycle series is good. I'm personally not really into the paranormal sub-genre, but I am quite interested in City of Ghosts. I might give it a try for uno since you've already read it, Jen :)

so how's everyone doing, have you read through the rules again? everything clear? :)
anything you're still reading and need to finish in the next couple of days?
UNO starts in roughly 3 days and 8 hours (countdown) and remember, for a book to count towards the uno challenge you will have to start it after uno officially begins on Feb1.
Starting times for various time zones:
Vienna, Austria - 9am
Lisbon, Portugal - 8am
Cincinnati, Ohio - 3am
Dallas, Texas - 2am
Edmonton, Alberta - 1am
Los Angeles, California - 12am
I just started One Of Us Is Next and plan to finish it and So Close To Being The Sh*t, Y’all Don’t Even Know by Friday at midnight. Not sure what my first book of the challenge will be yet! I’m so excited and am pretty sure I know what I need to know! Of course I’m sure I might have questions along the way!
I just finished One of Us is Next! It was pretty good. I was shocked by the twisted ending. But I’ll leave you to that. Don’t wanna spoil it for you. :DI have no idea what my first book will be either. It won’t be a problem since I’m pretty flexible with all the audiobooks I listen to while working.
Good thing you guys already read One Of Us Is Next, now I can definitely use it for reverse ;) was saving it for the challenge as it's probably a quick read
I have 3 hard exams coming up in February/beginning of March, so I hope I'll get to read at least 3-4 books :/
Yes I still have it, and I already read it ;) I'm talking about the second book which came out this January :p
Daniela wrote: "Yes I still have it, and I already read it ;) I'm talking about the second book which came out this January :p"yeah I know I deleted my post right after I posted it when I realized my mind was playing games with me lol
I don't think I'm going to be much help on the reverse - I haven't even heard of the books you guys are talking about! :-)I am looking forward to the challenge starting - not sure what I'm going to read first, though. I usually have a kindle book and an audio book going at the same time - reading when I can and listening when I can sit down and read.
same as me :) I always listen to audiobooks while walking my dog, and then have either a physical or ebook on the go for whenever, sometimes I even start both a physical and an ebook at the 'same' time!
Books must be more than 100 pages in length and Children's books, Graphic Novels, Manga, Cook Books, Plays and Poetry books can not be used unless by word count they can be verified as more than 25,000 words using arbookfind.com or more than 3 hours of audio using a reputable website (e.g. audible, overdrive)
Thanks Lau ;)It generally seems like most graphic novels do not work, especially since there's not much text + it's harder to verify word count.
Sorry about the above comment. I flagged it to Goodreads. We have had a lot of the same spam accounts lately. I just keep deleting the comments and blocking the users. I left this one to notify GR.
Ambi wrote: "Thanks Kristie."No problem, Ambi. Looks like they got it. :)
Good luck team! Almost time to start!
Kristie wrote: "Sorry about the above comment. I flagged it to Goodreads. We have had a lot of the same spam accounts lately. I just keep deleting the comments and blocking the users. Exactly one way to go until the challenge starts!! I hope everyone is excited.I'll be going out tonight, so for sure will stay home tomorrow and read all day once I'm up :p
20 hours left until uno officially starts!I'm gonna start the audiobook of Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire (#5 of the Wayward Children series) and also... The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley from my elibrary I guess. Both work for colour cards :)
Ambi wrote: "I'm gonna start reading
. Is this blue enough? I can use it for Blue 8."Yes! Perfect! Very ambitious too 🙈 Let us know if you come across any N or V characters too so we can switch something around if needed :)
Haha ambitious? More like procrastinating to read this forever. :) Will do. There are soooo many characters. It will be really sad if they don’t have a V character.
Quick question: we need to finish a hand before go in to the next hand. But what if we are done with the specific books before we reach the hand?

Actually, we don't need to finish hands in order. That's why we wanted you to claim coloured cards so we get them out of the way as soon as possible since they're harder to find/fill, + why we got that table on the right side of our spreadsheet.
We only have to be worried about earlier hands being finished if we don't have enough to cover the whole month. If that's the case near the end of the month we can still move books around from later hands to earlier ones.
Also, yes ambitious! It's a veeery long book, and I'm definitely never gonna read it lol.
Whoop, the challenge has officially started!!I'm off to quidditch practice now, and then will pick up my first book for the month :) happy reading everyone!
Happy reading everyone!Fun fact, I listened to the audiobook of Quidditch Through The Ages twice in a row last/this week because I didn't want to start anything new before uno lol
The Q&A thread is closed. If a book is tagged Childrens and YA in MPG do we still need a word count verification? Or can it be used?
Question: for colored books, do we go by a picture we took of the book or the stock photo of the edition we are reading on Goodreads? I’m assuming maybe because the lighting in my house isn’t the greatest, I’m not getting the same percentages on some books I’m looking at reading. For example, The Last Mrs Parrish. I haven’t even looked to see if it fits our colored cards otherwise but I’m having a head time determining if it counts as blue.
