MPG is an abbreviation Goodreaders use to say that the tag should be in the Main Page of the book link.

Thanks! I mostly only use Goodreads for tracking my books, so I didn't know... but that makes sense!

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Sorry to be SUPER obnoxious but I just read: "I push my carts through Walmart and Winn-Dixie, schlep the merchandise to the trunk and steer my car straight back to a house that is starting to feel more and more like a prison." Good enough for shopping? In case you can't tell, I apparently REALLY want one of my books to work for shopping.

Ambi | 172 comments Haha. I bet that works Ashley.

MPG means Main Page Genre = the genres that show up on the main page of a book on goodreads. I hope that makes sense. for this mini challenge, we don't need any MPGs though, just 'tagged' adventure, sports or science-fiction is enough :)

not sure about buying cereal at a gas station. what does everybody else think?
I could still move HP1 over to the shopping task if someone has a book where somebody owns a dog.

it's a goblet, I don't think it'll count, but we can decide as a team if anybody wants to weigh in :)

to go back to this - the shortbread is lying on a checkered tin box, but behind it there's some more checkered stuff - is it a blanket?!

I'd say it works, there's still something left of the drink in the glass, right? ;) might also work for glasses (I just asked in the captains group if they want plural or if it can be just one glass too)

Well, if it doesn't work for the mini-challenge, it will atleast work for the main.

In my head a goblet isn't really a glass, although it's used for drinking. if that makes any sense lol.

but I was just told it needs to be glasses anyway. plural.

I asked my husband by pointing to it and saying "What is this?" After getting a response of "I don't know, plaid?", I asked him what object it was and he said it was a tablecloth. I kind of see where he gets that because of the "slats of wood" in the front it looks like a table with a tablecloth. I'm not 100% committed to blanket or tablecloth on this one.

Daniela Zekotic | 923 comments I finished my book for the "tagged sports" task yesterday and I have around 40 pages left of my yellow cover book. I'll try to find another audio book I can listen to while playing video games (I play way too much lately), will let you guys know what it works for, once I chose one

message 619: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments Btw, audible is offering free books which you don't need a membership for. They're mainly books for kids and teens, so you'll have to figure out which books are okay to use for uno (everything longer than 3hrs). From what I've heard, this was created so kids currently don't /only/ sit in front of screens.

Disney+ came out here today so I think we can guess what I'll be doing in the next couple of days lol so I'll try to listen to HP2 as much as possible today :)

According to my mum Spotify is currently free as well? Idk if it's true though...

Apparently, this one doesn't work for a whole lot, but it was a cute little book.

message 629: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments ^ great, can you tell us how/why it works for the 'on a mission' prompt? I'll move Catching Fire over to tagged sci-fi then :)

message 630: by Daniela (new)

Daniela Zekotic | 923 comments To all the creative people in here: can someone start to write a story with the book titles we have so far in part 2 of the mini challenge? :) we don't need to use the whole titles, just parts of them.

message 631: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments can we finish 16 more books this month? because that's what we'd need for the mini challenge. I don't think there's a need to start writing the story unless we finish all the prompts for part 1 and all 15 books for part 2.

message 632: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments I'll try to cover glasses (for drinking) with the audiobook of A Simple Favour by Darcey Bell !

message 633: by Daniela (new)

Daniela Zekotic | 923 comments The parts should be independent from each other? At least I understood it like that. We just won't get the finished bonus?

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Christina wrote: "^ great, can you tell us how/why it works for the 'on a mission' prompt? I'll move Catching Fire over to tagged sci-fi then :)"

This is kind of a mild spoiler I guess because we don't know what his plan is right away... so I'll just put SPOILER ALERT out there.

I consider it "on a mission"... Ian is on a mission to visit several spots in Ireland that are relevant to the history of his favorite band and make it to Electric Picnic to see them live without his parents finding out. (He is American and his parents think he is in Italy).

I should be finishing 1 more today. After that one, I will finish 1-2 more depending on how quickly I can get through A List of Cages. So I should be able to get a total of 2-3 more done by the end of the month.

SandyL | 336 comments My work keeps changing their mind. I do taxes and last week we were working, then on Friday morning I got a text "absolutely do not come into the office." Then, on Monday they said to come back, but we can't have clients in the office. So we're making phone calls, sending emails and trying to prepare taxes virtually. At least our filing deadline has been moved from April to July.

Ashley Elig | 689 comments I'm doing alright. I haven't left the house in a little over 2 weeks. I got outside in our yard, but that's it. I live in Ohio and we are currently under a "stay at home" order which basically is the same as sheltering in place or lockdown. We can still go to the grocery store but are to limit trips as much as possible. I'm getting super frustrated with other people who seem to not understand how important this is and are taking their kids out for ice cream and sitting at picnic tables with people they don't know. Or a variety of other things people are doing that are not safe right now. I could go on a very long rant about this and am thinking about ignoring social media for a while, because I'm starting to have difficulty keeping my mouth shut. My husband has been working from home and I am just not working. I miss taking our toddler to her little tumbling class and story time at the library more than anything else I guess.
