thanks for sharing that sad news, barry.
Thanks for the sad news Barry. Henry Gibson died too. It kind of makes you wonder, why are we losing so many talented people lately.

He was great on Laugh-In and he was pretty funny in The Blues Brothers movie, too. I didn't know about Mary Travers until just a little while ago. My mom loved PP&M and the Kingston Trio when I was a kid. She played their records all the time. I knew all the words to Puff the Magic Dragon and Where Have All The Flowers Gone. I'm also having a Patrick Swayze film fest of my own tomorrow night while DH is bowling. Plan on watching Dirty Dancing (was there ever anything hotter than Swayze in those tight black pants??), Road House and Next Of Kin. I'll save Ghost for another time...it always makes me cry.
I was slow to catch on to what PPM stands for! But I figured it out now. I did love their harmonies. They made a good team. Yes, it's sad to read of her death, and the others. We have had a lot lately. nj
Let us not forget Nashville, where Henry Gibson starred, and Peter, Paul and Mary were represented by another group. One of my all time favorite movies (Robert Altman (MASH) directed.)
Melodie:Your Patrick Sawyze film festival sounds good, great movies. I watched Dirty Dancing again just a few weeks ago. You are right, Ghost is probably hard to take right now.

They were fantastic, and I too, feel sad of Mary's passing.

I watched those videoes. That's when music had something to say. The music was so "clean", guitars and voices, no 18 tracks, lip-synching and big stage show productions with 1/2 naked female singers. I had thought of this song right after our Presidential election.

So many memories: 500 miles, dated a guy, I left by train, the song was our song
Leaving on a Jet Plane: my cousin and her husband's song when he was in the army and had to leave her for several months.
This Land Is Your Land: was singing this song when we rode to California.
And how many weddings did we attend they played the "Wedding Song"?
Loved Mary's rendition of Denver's "Follow Me".
Just so many memories.
I had the Wedding Song at my wedding....but my marriage didn't last so that's probably not a good recommendation!
I didn't know she passed away. PM&M was set to be at Ocean Grove this summer and they cancelled out I guess she was sick at the time. They weren't there the year before but every year they are there. So sad. I've been sad about Patrick I love his movies and always liked him.

both clips are from the Smothers Brothers Concert in the Round, which I still remember from its original broadcast. It was one of those moments that shapes a growing boy.
