Cylia Kamp I have now read the manual, but I don't know where to find the pledge I was asked to sign, promising that I had read it.

Thanks, Celeste

Cylia Kamp I have submitted it. Is there anything else I need to do now?

message 4: by Melisa (new)

Melisa (melisa_ilkhan) How does Good Reads decides who gets to be a librarian?

message 5: by Cylia (new)

Cylia Kamp That's a good question. I'm curious too.

Z-squared | 8575 comments Approval can take awhile, as much as a week or two. You won't get a response if they don't approve your application. If you apply, are waiting to hear back, and try to apply again, I believe you get some error message about your application already being submitted. If you DON'T get that message, then you've been rejected.

If you wish to reapply, the essay portion is critical. They're not really interested in making every warm body into a librarian, so make sure you give them a positive reason why you in particular should be a librarian.

Cylia Kamp Thanks so much for the information, Z-Squared. I'll relax and wait. Sincerely, Cylia/Celeste

Sorry for pushing this thread up again - but did your application get through?
I'm curious because I too applied and haven't heard anything so far
(OK.. 24th of December is probably not a good date to apply).
It would be really nice if there was at least some notification even if you'r application is rejected..

I've never heard back one way or the other, but it would be helpful to know if Goodreads ever got my application.
Sincerely, Cylia/Celeste

Cylia Kamp I never heard back. I assume I was not accepted. It would be nice, though, to receive some kind of notification. Rejection or acceptance either way.

Sarah - All The Book Blog Names Are Taken (sarahbear8301) | 35 comments Mine took a while, three or four weeks. Have you tried applying again to see if you receive the error message about your application already being submitted? I thought there was one but it's been a while so I don't exactly remember.

message 14: by René (new)

René (mooncakekitten) | 8 comments I think my reasons for applying weren't all that good formulated.
(If you dnot pull down the essay text box it really looks like a one-liner).

I took my time and wrote a real application stating my reasons and view for why I'd like to help as a librarian.
There was no error when submitting so my first application was probably silently rejected.
This time I also asked to be at least dropped a short line if it's rejected again so I can be sure.

message 15: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 897 comments they've never notified people if you don't get it - so don't feel shunned - it could just be that they don't need any new ones at the time

Mo (thescarletsiren) | 9 comments It would definitely be nice if they let you know either way. Saves us from sitting around and wondering.

message 17: by René (new)

René (mooncakekitten) | 8 comments They accepted my second application so I think *what* you put in the application text really plays a good part in the decision making..

Mo (thescarletsiren) | 9 comments I'll have to write something more impressive next time! :P
