They are all looking for the stolen sparrow. I wonder what else is in that sparrow. I don't think it is just a musical bird. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[They know what the Baron looks like but not his real name. Sophie overheard him talking to an associate at the theater where Lil was performing. The Baron took Sophie and locked her up, but she got out and has the sparrow. I was sad that Bert died. I hope no one else dies. (hide spoiler)]

Sophie is going back to work at the shop, and Joe is going to work in the stable. Sophie and Lil were offered a position with the private detective. First impressions from ch1-5 are of Katherine Mansfield for younger readers, with a heavy nod to Robin Stevens in regard to the mystery-solving.

The shop is quite interesting.

Up to ch14. Definitely more to this - framing Sophie is too obvious. I also like the fact her friends haven’t forgotten her, but the searching of her rooms is rather odd.
