Alyson Larimer Wonder is a book about a boy who is a kid who just wants to fit in like the rest of us, but has a harder time doing so. Auggie was born with deformities and was home schooled all of his life. Now that he is done getting surgeries, he is able to attend a real school. Attending a real school for his first time obviously comes with challenges as Auggie tries to make friends with his fellow classmates. The story is beautiful story and you really feel for Auggie as he gets bullied and harassed by the other kids. Although he does not fit in, Auggie really starts to become one with his other classmates. I enjoy this story because the moral of it is to treat people the way you want to be treated, and that we shouldn't judge others based on their physical appearance. Towards the end of the book, Auggie's school goes on a trip where there are other schools there as well. Some boys from another school start to pick on Auggie and thats where we start to see his classmates really stand up for him. This is a touching story that I think is great for children because his classmates had learned to accept him and even though they pick on him, they wouldn't let someone else do it. I think its a cute story that shows no matter what you should have someones back, and even if they pick on you, they really do care about you as a person and wouldn't want someone else to do it to you. I think that this is a great book for children to learn how to accept and love each other no matter what the circumstance are.
