I LOVED that book and the sequel was better! I cannot wait for the third and final book this year.

Elena Granger | 1788 comments Oh! This book is also on my TBR. I've heard so many good things about it. Maybe I'll start reading after Mistborn series.

Look forward to your thoughts when you read it Laura! Kayleigh also really enjoyed it.
Hoping to read the last one right when it comes out in June I believe

message 56: by Laura ☾ (new)

Laura ☾ | 875 comments So I finished the Lunar Chronicles (bar Stars Above) and while they were entertaining enough they just didn't resonate enough with me to fall in love with them

I am STILL reading Crescent City. Only 200 pages left so hoping to finish it this week. *fingers crossed*

message 59: by Laura ☾ (new)

Laura ☾ | 875 comments I’d be down for buddy reading the third book! I should be caught up by then!

I am loving it... it's just taking me a while haha. I've got about 80 pages left so should be finished today. I'll be honest it's broke me a little bit. I sat crying this morning over it lol.

It's one of the book that I've allowed myself to preorder. I only have 3 books on preorder this year.

message 64: by Laura ☾ (new)

Laura ☾ | 875 comments So I just finished Valiant and it was actually horrendous. I've seen a lot of people say that Ironside is better, so I'm still going to read that (it apparently goes back to the characters from Tithe) but phew that was just not a good read at all.

message 65: by Teodora (new)

Teodora | 359 comments There was something about the Modern Faerie Tales series that didn't appeal to me, though the Folk of the Air was just fine

message 66: by Laura ☾ (new)

Laura ☾ | 875 comments Same! I really liked The Queen of Nothing

And I liked some of her other books like The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and The Darkest Part of the Forest

That's too bad Laura! Curious what didn't work? I've only read Cruel Prince by her and thought it was okay.

Laura ☾ | 875 comments Brittany wrote: "That's too bad Laura! Curious what didn't work? I've only read Cruel Prince by her and thought it was okay."

Tithe was alright, but Valiant was honestly a mess. The characters had little development and no consistency and none of them were likeable, and the plot wasn’t really a plot it felt like a random sequence of events, none of which were properly explored.

Brittany | 6459 comments Mod
Okay good to know, I will avoid those!

message 70: by Laura ☾ (new)

Laura ☾ | 875 comments Finished another series with Night of the Dragon (Shadow of the Fox, #3) by Julie Kagawa and I really enjoyed it!

message 73: by HeatherH (new)

Does that series get better? I was super frustrated reading book one. I remember the last quarter or so was significantly better than the rest though. Also yay for series finishing!

Yes do! It’s feels quite unique and that’s part of why I like it so much. It’s a bit Fantasy/Horror vaguely inspired by some Slavic mythology!

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) | 2304 comments Mod
Sounds amazing. I'll definitely have to look it up. I love books that are inspired by mythology.

message 81: by HeatherH (new)

I had taken that series off my tbr at one point.... back on it goes!

message 84: by Laura ☾ (new)

Laura ☾ | 875 comments Finally got around to reading Emma. I like Austen but this was not my favourite by far! I just don't really like Emma as a character

I really want to read more classics. I've actually never read any Austen 🙈

Laura ☾ | 875 comments So I finished Beach Read and I actually loved it! One of the few romance-y books I've really loved lately!

Laura ☾ | 875 comments So I finished Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles, #1) by Ilona Andrews and it was absolutely a light, enjoyable read - will definitely continue the series

I definitely intend to. One of my alltime favourite books is a classic. I've read Wuthering Heights about 5 times.

message 93: by Laura ☾ (new)

Laura ☾ | 875 comments So I finished Sweep of the Blade and I really enjoyed the series! But (view spoiler) I really hope there's more books to come!

message 94: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6459 comments Mod
There's Sweep with Me which I haven't been able to read yet and an untitled book 5 that will be out at some point. (view spoiler)

I just finished sweep with me - it was good but didn’t answer any of that! And book 5 is on goodreads but it says the authors haven’t confirmed that there will be a book five it’s just speculation!

I'm pretty sure they will write it, just might be a bit. They have to answer at least some of those questions! And I want more of the world and the inns.

Laura ☾ | 875 comments Finished Shadow Study and onto Night Study - want to finish the series but so far they're just not as good as the original trilogy to me!

Also found out there will be a fourth Graveling book early next year and I'm excited for it!

message 99: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6459 comments Mod
Did you read the Glass books as well?
I finally ordered myself a copy of Shadow Study. I loved the original trilogy and enjoyed the Glass trilogy.

Yes I am super excited about the new Graceling book as well!
