Yes he is AND she's still single, Morelli is still hot, Ranger even hotter and Grandma Mazur is still alive & kicking! I save these books for vacation treats now. It's almost time to start back at the beginning and reread the whole thing again!!

message 154: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments How it that even possible?! She's still single, the guys are still around and both hamster and Grandma Mazur are still alive and kicking.

After all these years.... hahahaha.

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments We never managed to keep a hamster longer than 2yrs and that's assuming my parents have been honest about how many times they found an escaped hamster v how many times they just bought a replacement!
Escapist-fiction hamster for the win!

It seems as if the books dont age in years even though they come out like once a year, if that makes sense

books seems to be just one looooooooooooooooooooooooooong story of Step's life, I found the last few lackluster but have to catch up on the antics of this group of characters

I REALLY like the last one Grandma became a main character and I finally realized what her first name is LOL

Leah | 3 comments Hi I'm Leah, this will be my first time doing the UNO challenge. This challenge sounds really exciting. Really looking forward to it.

I LOVE Stephanie Plum!!! I think it would make an excellent television series.

Amber M. McCarter (mommyultd) | 32 comments

Hello, I'm Amber. I have played quite a number of team reading challenges, but this will be my first time doing this particular one. I'm a pretty eclectic reader, with special leanings toward Sci-fi and Magical Realism... But as long as it is quality storytelling, I will read it and love it, whatever the genre.

Looking forward to the game and getting to know some other readers!

Please remember that as per the rules, Children's books are only accepted if by word count they can be verified as more than 25,000 words using arbookfind.com or more than 3 hours of audio using a reputable website (e.g. audible, overdrive).

You may wish to check your books and update your estimate for reading per month if your books may not count

message 174: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I thought the sign up period was through January 23rd. In another they mentioned a sign up firm but there wasn’t anything here or a link which brought he to a post saying the folder was closed.

We are going to start putting the teams together ; so sign ups received from now may not make it into the first round of sign ups, but instead be considered reserves.

Around the 21st we will have the teams together and team threads posted and will send a broadcast message

Chava | 528 comments Summertime (aka Mikayla) wrote: "how do I know if a kids book has 25,000 words or more?"

Check Ar bookfinder: https://www.arbookfind.com/UserType.a...
You put the title in and it will give you the number of words.

For instance, here is the link to Harry Potter and the Scorcerer's Stone: https://www.arbookfind.com/bookdetail...

It shows you the word count being 77508

message 181: by Kay (new)

Kay (kay23) | 192 comments right but if I'm in the middle of picking out library books, I can't do that. I'm talking about, like is there a certain amount of pages that equals that word count?

You will have to plan ahead and look them up before you go, most libraries have an online catalog. You can also guess and check when you get home. Most books with 100 pages or more will work.

message 183: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (sunnyisreading) | 67 comments Hi guys! I'm Sunny and this is my first time doing UNO. I've done Wheelathon two times in the NBRC group but I'm super excited to be doing something different this time!

I mostly read fantasy and sci-fi, but love a good thriller or contemporary too.

message 184: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments Mikayla, once you are assigned to a team, your captains & co-captains can help you sort out some of the page-count issues. However, there is no exact "interpretation" between pages & word count, because most kids' books tend to have pics/drawings in them & that would make it difficult.
You can also check the audiobook versions for kids books (if they exist) as according to UNO rules, audiobooks above 3-hours length get accepted as having 100+ pages.

message 189: by Bailey (new)

Bailey | 23 comments Hi everyone! I'm Bailey from Alberta, Canada.

This is my first goodreads challenge. This year I resolved to use my downtime in way that was more fulfilling than staring at the TV. I'm looking forward to digging into some great reads with you all! I love drama and lit, especially things set in the early 1900's in North America. I'm also on a no book buy this year, so hopefully my library has enough to cover my team!

I am most excited to read Ali Wong's memoir, Dear Girls.

message 190: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments No-book-buy... WOW... Bailey, you are some TOUGH WOMAN. ;)

message 191: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1659 comments I’ve been not buying books unless I can use credit at the used book store for the past six or seven years. I sold them a lot of the books I had I knew I would never read again. It hasn’t been perfect but my library has most books I want to read. Hopefully yours does too.

Somehow after not buying books for years I still have close to 140 books on my shelves I haven’t read. I should note about 30 of them are loans from friends and family.

If we need an authors with a name starting with R or with dragons or whatever monster or a certain colour on the front cover, they should be OK

message 198: by Chava (new)

Chava | 528 comments Library is my friend too. I am a member of 8 libraries in my city and one of them does loans from other libraries in the state for free. It’s awesome. I still have overflowing bookcases with books I haven’t read yet though

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments I just re-joined our local library after about 20 years. Buying books has just got too expensive. I used to be able to buy second hand books for a couple of dollars or kindle books but the prices have increased a lot lately.

I'm really enjoying perusing the shelves and the on line catalogue. Great for Challenges. And yes, Chava, I'm the same. Still oodles of unread books on my shelves and kindle. But I'm trying to cut down.

message 200: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I love our library! It's only a 15 minute drive and I'm usually there twice a week. I use the online service to reserve and we have a fairly decent ebook and audiobook selection also. I rarely buy paper books, but I do occasionally pay for "air" for my Kindle/iPad, when necessary.
