I think my team had only one yellow card last year, other than that lots of blue and red.

Jenny | 2346 comments OK my British friends...
Have any of you seen the stage production of Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane at the National Theatre?
I didn't even know it existed until a few minutes ago!!!!!

message 56: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments no, sold out by the time I'd heard about it :(

Mary i have done this challenge a couple times

and pretty much whatever you read can fit somewhere,

the colors are just a tad more restricting

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 367 comments I played UNO before but took arest from challenges last year.

message 59: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 976 comments We had so many colour cards, I got to the point I went to the library, went to the corresponding last name, and chose solely based on the colour of the cover lol.

message 60: by BarbaraAnn (new)

BarbaraAnn Hi - my name is BarbaraAnn and I'm not sure if this is my third or fourth year. I love this game and can't wait to start.

message 61: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 1241 comments Kelly, I'm pretty sure each team gets the same amount of coloured cards (; some are just easier to find than others :D

That is me at the moment, I keep looking at my stack of books and saying NOPE you are yellow better wait,

and since I have 3 yellow on my shelf to read my luck will be no yellow and all blue ( which I dont have )

message 63: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (mvalente89) | 296 comments Glad to see I'm not the only one already looking for color covers. I started a spreadsheet listing my options already on my TBR. I even found a few for the elusive Yellow 5 and 8!

message 64: by Romina (new)

Romina (romii) | 277 comments Ahhh I cant believe Uno is about to start! I participated a few years back.. I was then away from goodreads for a while, focusing on finishing my degree and starting to work.. and goodreads(and reading :( ) just slowly dissapeared for my life.
Lately I have started reading again, been fond of non fiction books lately which is a change from what I usually read and decided to come back to goodreads. Im excited to participate I think this will be perfect for me to continue to get back into reading and GR. I remember LOVING Uno when I participated.

message 65: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Kearney This will be my first time playing! I keep seeing it each year but feel that I couldn’t devote the time to reading. Can’t wait to do it this year! I’ll pretty much read anything. I’m currently reading fiction/mystery. I read a couple autobiographies recently. ☺️

message 66: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Renee (courtneyreneex3) | 2 comments oh this sounds cool. I hope to sign up and join you all!

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey there, my name’s Sisa and this will be my second year playing UNO. I actually deleted my Goodreads account last year, and then I remembered UNO and made one literally to play this game. That’s how much fun last year was! (Team Nancy Drew woot woot!) So my profile looks pretty empty, but I love to read and I don’t discriminate against any genres. I read it all and I’m so excited for the games to begin! :P

message 74: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 417 comments I'm interested in joining! I finished my first ever Team Reading Challenge last month and I think I'm hooked! My reading changes according to my mood but I love any kind of mystery/thrillers, the classics, and general literary fiction. I also enjoy some historical romance.

message 75: by Sha (new)

Sha | 324 comments I did last year's UNO and I have been waiting anxiously for this year's version to come out. I'm definitely in.

message 76: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 1050 comments Hi all, I'm really looking forward to this year's Uno. This will be my fourth or fifth year (I've totally lost track). Last year my team were plagued by yellow 7s and 9s so I'm crossing everything for a better draw this year.

I read pretty much everything but currently working my way through the third Diviners book. I'm hoping to get some of the bigger books on my tbr out of the way before the challenge starts.

message 77: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1144 comments Hello all! I'm looking forward to Uno again! This will be my fifth year.

I am looking forward to reading two books that have been on my TBR for a couple/few years now:

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
The Woman in Cabin 10

and

The End of the Wild by Nicole Helget
The End of the Wild

Some of my students have been reading that last one since I bought a couple for my classroom library. Hopefully a copy is available in February when I'm ready to start!

message 78: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments So the only colors for this would be red, yellow, blue and green right? I set aside a book that had a green cover. Or were other colors added?

message 84: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments Thanks, MyzanM. I've deleted those comments, blocked the user, and flagged it to GR. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to help. I am constantly deleting those exact same comments. They just keep making new accounts.

message 85: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2346 comments Aw come on. I'm sure they are legit! Making thousands of dollars a month out of your home, what could possibly be fishy about that?

We could all be making tons of money whilst playing Uno. Right?
Now there's a plan. Figuring out how to make money on playing GR challenges. Hmmm... None of us would have to work ever again!

My pile of blue, green, yellow and red books keeps getting bigger. I want to start reading some of them now. Whine.

Sorry. I am not a patient person.

Yes! It’s possibly good for a Reverse card since it’s been out for a couple years and fairly popular!

UNO Pixie | 1839 comments We are going to give you all a 24 head start on sign ups seeing that you are super keen and made your way to this chat thread!

A sign up announcement will go out tomorrow (14th), but here are the details for you all early.

Please remember to read the rules and commit to the challenge for 3 months. That is Feb 1 - April 30. You will need to be active on goodreads at least once per week during this period.

Fill out this SIGN UP FORM with a few details and we will start assigning teams the second last week of January. You will need to "check in" to your team thread by January 26 or you will be replaced
If you have problems with the form, please let us know.
===
SPECIAL NOTE: If you signed up last year, but were replaced because the captain did not hear from you, or you withdrew from the challenge, you will need to send a message to the Pixie account as to what has changed this year. Your sign up will get flagged and you will not be placed in a team unless you message us first.
===
You can see if your form responses worked, and check out who else has signed up here

***********************

◈ Every month when the team gets their monthly UNO hands the Captain will need to work with the team to create a plan for how to read the hands. We will provide you with a spreadsheet to complete.
◈ We would expect the captains to track the teams books
◈ At the end of each month the Captain will need to check their teams books are marked as "read" and meet the page counts and submit their team's info to the moderator to have points confirmed
