Elisa Bandstra | 63 comments Sooo... my 2019 challenge did not really go according to plan! Although I completed the challenge, I hardly updated my page nor participated in group reads as much as I wanted to. Now that I have settled a bit more in my life I want to try again! However instead of 2 books a month I want to read 3!

Elisa Bandstra | 63 comments January:
Group Reads: All the Light We Cannot See + Popsugar 15. A book with at least a four-star rating on Goodreads

Really enjoyed this one! Loved how easy readible it was and the characters were very interesting. Good read to start of this year!

Beloved

Even though I have probably not savoured the language as I could have done, I was still impressed by this. Needless to say it is hard to read sometimes, but man... I feel for Sethe...

To be read: Conversations with Friends

Really enjoyed the first half of this novel. Then got fed up with the characters and the conversations between Frances and Nick seem to be ever repeating themselves.

Marathon Challenge: 1159/1100

February:
Popsugar Challenge: A book you picked because the title caught your attention Before the Coffee Gets Cold
Popsugar Challenge: A book you meant to read in 2019 The Immortalists
Popsugar Challenge: A book with a three-word title The Nickel Boys

The Nickel Boys
Astounding and so horrifying at the same time...

Before the Coffee Gets Cold
A nice relief from the heavy topic that was The Nickel Boys yet it had some heartbreaking moments too! Almost gave up on it because I found the first character's inner dialogue insufferable but since it was such a short read I carried on and it grew on me!

The Immortalists
Really enjoyed this one as well. Interesting characters which differ so much from one another.

March:
Monthly challenge: Earth Laughs In Flowers
Your Year to Bloom: Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds
Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life...And Maybe the World
Bloom Where You’re Planted: The Giver of Stars

April:
Group Read: The Green Mile
Monthly Challenge: Springing Into Green.
Getting the “green light” indicates permission to proceed in safety Seven Days
Green can denote youth or inexperience My Brilliant Friend

May:

June:

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments I had the same issue last year. I completely neglected Goodreads. Hopefully, we'll both do better in that aspect in 2020. Good luck with your reading challenge :)
