Liz (liz_the_librarian) I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We are now down to our final month of the 2014 Challenge. For those of you who have already finished the challenge: Congrats! And for those of you who are nearing completion: Keep it up! You're almost there!

Last week, I didn't get as much time to read as I'd hoped, but at least I have a couple of books to look forward to this week. I just cracked open Amy Poehler's Yes Please, and I'm a few chapters into Neil Patrick Harris' Choose Your Own Autobiography. I'm also hoping to get to Jim Gaffigan's Food: A Love Story.

What are you reading this week?

Kyra Hay | 41 comments I just finished logging my 52nd book into the library system! Yay, I'm still going to keep reading to see how many I can finish by the end of the year! This week I am reading Even the Moon Has Scars.

That's awesome, Kyra! Congrats on finishing the challenge. Out of all the books you read this year, which one will you be most likely to read again?

Ann (ann-fracturedfiction) | 516 comments I finished listening to New York to Dallas by J.D. Robb, and need to find a new audio to listen to (not up for Christmas carols 24/7 quite yet). I just finished Broken Open by Lauren Dane. I also bought the new one by Sylvia Day, and am going to BN to get the new one by Laurell K. Hamilton. In the meanwhile, I brought Dark Witch by Nora Roberts to read during lunch. Any suggestions for audio books?

I listened to so many good audiobooks this year. I'm not sure if most of them fit into what you generally like to read, but I like to use audiobooks as an opportunity to try something new.

I'm currently listening to A Short History of Nearly Everything. What could be a very dull, drawn out subject, the audiobook version has actually made me laugh out loud a few times, and it's super informative. Want to know how Earth was created? Why life on other planets in our solar system is impossible? How much about our own planet we simply do not know? It's fascinating.

I'll also recommend Ready Player One for a science fiction, dystopia near future novel (narrated by Wil Wheaton!). Also Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe for a YA book that doesn't actually feel like YA (and takes place in the late 80s). Wonder, despite being juvenile fiction was incredible. It's a heart-wrenching story with fantastic narrators. Lastly the His Dark Materials trilogy was insane on audio! I actively avoided those books for years due to being mistaken about what they were about. But once I started listening to the first one, I was hooked; the story is really good.

Hopefully one of these works for you!
A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson Ready Player One by Ernest Cline Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz Wonder by R.J. Palacio The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman

Ann, my favorite audiobook this year was "Winter Garden" by Kristin Hannah. It made me weep, but in a good way. :)

Ann (ann-fracturedfiction) | 516 comments Thanks, I'll give them a try.

Julie | 130 comments I agree about Ready Player One narrated by Wil Wheaton! It was great!!
also really enjoyed Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. I found the audiobook rather captivating.

I'm reading through the Oz books to help reach my goal. I think I am on the fourth or fifth one now.

I'm listening to The Warrior Heir which is my first digital audio download. I just sort of picked it at random, but the story is starting to get interesting now.

Kyra Hay | 41 comments Liz,
I will probably end up rereading the Mara Dyer trilogy, I really enjoyed the premise and it was very unique! I've really been enjoying the paranormal type books this year and I was never that interested in the growing up...

Kyra, isn't it interesting how much our tastes can change as we get older? I've read a number of books this past year that I don't think I would have enjoyed very much in the past.
