So here we go again!

We've adopted a couple of changes from the inaugural challenge.

1. We're going to be leveling up the challenge as we go through the year. What does that mean you say? Well, here's a handy dandy "chart" for the crunchy ones of you.

Lvl 1 - 500 books read
Lvl 2 - 1,000 books read
Lvl 3 - 2,000 books read
Lvl 4 - 3,500 books read
Lvl 5 - 5,000 books read
Lvl 6 - 7,000 books read
Lvl 7 - 9,000 books read

None of this is set in stone and I will be monitoring it over the next couple of months to make sure it makes sense, and if needed I'll add a "patch". FWIW, I'm thinking of changing it to exp based on # of books read, pledged and participants.

Let's see how it works.

Without further ado 2020 Group Read Challenge

*PS: I'm going to figure out how to remove the 2019 challenge from the main page and flip it with the 2020, but haven't had much time to do it yet.

AJ Shrike (ajshrike) | 1 comments Sounds awesome! I'm eager to read Ascend Online, will read those first probably. Need to re-up my Kindle Unlimited tonight.

message 3: by Blindsight (new)

Blindsight | 1 comments I read 102 books last year. Set a personal goal to read a book every 3 days on average this year, so hopefully I hit my 122 target!

Frankie Saxx (frankiesaxx) | 1 comments I really like these challenges! The 2019 one definitely motivated me to actively look for more litrpg. :)

Crissy Moss (crissymoss) | 30 comments Good, I have a few series I'm interested in completing this year.

Kurt (klieber) | 6 comments Minor typo: "This challenge is to read as many GameLit/LitRPG books in 2019."

That should be 2020. :)

That’s the struggle. There are days that I have a glut of books and then all of a sudden, I’m scrapping the bottom of the proverbial barrel.

I find that I need palette cleansers sometimes before jumping back in.

message 10: by Utopicdrow (new)

Utopicdrow | 5 comments I finally jumped in as well. Though I intend on reading twice my set goal, just incase I hit a snag or something.

I'm going to go through Stonehaven League, Beastborne, Ascend Online, and Primeverse at the least.

P (nextshadow) | 2 comments I just got my 200 goal and wow it was both awesome and struggle all rolled in to one crazy year. This was fun...n not doing that many again!

message 12: by Freedom (new)

Freedom | 198 comments Congrats on making your goal of 200 books :)

message 13: by Wisp (new)

Wisp (sentinelwisp) | 5 comments Well I'm all in!! I got my contribution so far of 83 books and the goal is 100 at least at the end of the year.... Maybe I can get up to 120...maybe

Andrew Burgos | 5 comments so how does this group reading challenge work?

You create a shelf that you want to be tracked. Any books that you put in that shelf this year, it gets tracked towards the challenge, once you sign up for it on the 2021 Challenge page.

Can we get a post with the final results for 2020? It appears the system removes your progress once the contest end date is reached.

We actually reached Level 6 in the 2020 Challenge, with a whopping 7,974 books read by the group.

For those of you that are interested, you can reach the challenge in this link.

Andrew Burgos | 5 comments Oh man! Than I didn’t do the 2020 one correctly haha. I was pumping out books left and right last year haha.

message 19: by Kurt (new)

Kurt (klieber) | 6 comments If I'm reading that link correctly, we reached level 4, with 4,369 books read. The 7,974 number was books pledged, I believe.

message 20: by H (new)

H Rez | 13 comments Having recently re-arranged my shelfs, I would just recommend you use your litrpg shelf if you have one instead of creating a shelf for the challenge.
(The challenge will use the read date to decide if a book counts, and so you can keep using the shelf next year and so on)

That's exactly how I do it, and have been doing it for the last 3 years

message 22: by H (new)

H Rez | 13 comments Yup, seems best, Only I've had a separate shelf at first and now that its gone, the previous challenges have all zeroed out.

Thought I'd save others this with a bit of early advice.

Can't challenge shelves be updated after the challenge is completed?

message 24: by H (new)

H Rez | 13 comments Nope, I even tested recreating the shelf to see it the challenges will update again and had no luck.
