Decided to wait on Malibu Rising for a buddy read, so starting The Forest of Vanishing Stars instead.
Aussie journalist, reporter, and writer Rick Morton bared his family's soul in his memoir One Hundred Years of Dirt. His childhood in far outback Queensland sounds like something from a couple of hundred years ago.

Malala Yousafzai isa another inspiring Little People BIG DREAMS book from Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. The Taliban tried to assassinate Malala, but she recovered and went on to become the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

this book was soooo good! if anyone gets a chance you should definitely read undercover protection by Maggie K Black. I reviewed it on my page as well.
A road trip to track down an unknown father and perform at an international comedy festival. What could possibly go wrong? The Funny Thing About Norman Foreman by Julietta Henderson follows twelve-year-old Norman, his mother, and an old codger to the Edinburgh Fringe. Don't trust me - many readers just loved this one!

I finished the last book on my June TBR today. Sorrow's Twin
by Rory Surtain is a coming of age paranormal fantasy and supernatural suspense novel with a medieval-like setting. This is a good versus evil story and is the third book in the series. In my opinion, this series must be read in order. My 3 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Congrats on completing your June TBR, Pam. I haven't done that in a long time. I keep pushing books to the next month lately.

I finished The Jackal's Share
by Christopher Morgan Jones. My 3 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Carry: A Memoir of Survival on Stolen Land, by Métis author Toni Jensen, is a collection of powerful essays and stories about dispossession, trafficking, gun violence and general abuse of and disregard for the First Nations peoples of the Americas.Jensen has had quite a life and shares it, warts and all.

I just finished the Caraval trilogy by Stephanie Garber and I loved it! Romance, adventures, plot twists and magic are merged together in a world where things are not as you might expect. 5⭐, really recommended.
The Promise3.5 stars - I enjoyed this in a depressing sort of way.

Leyla wrote: "I'n currently reading "Circe" by Madeline Miller. Everyone loves it. I am on chapter 9. I haven't enjoyed it yet."It's always disappointing when a book doesn't live up to the hype. I hope it gets better for you.
I finished two novels good for fans of cozy mysteries or light romances and both were by Jennifer Crusie -

The Soul of an Octopus: A Surprising Exploration Into the Wonder of Consciousness by Sy MontgomeryOverall a delightful book - my review www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4103707314
A Little Bit of Courage is all you need to fly high! Author/illustrator Claire Alexander created cute little "Ploofers" to show kids how to learn to be brave.

South Australian author Garry Disher's recent book Consolation is my favourite kind of writing. Perfect for place, plot, and people. This is rural Australia where crooks think they can get away with murder.

Just Finished on Earth we´re briefly Gorgeous by Ocean VuongHere is my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished The One
by John Marrs. This is a psychological thriller with a bit of science fiction. I received this book in a Goodreads discussion group giveaway. This had a great concept, but didn't live up to my expectations. However, many readers whose opinions I respect liked this a lot more than I did.My 3 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Four Lost Cities: A Secret History of the Urban Age by Annalee Newitz. This book describes 4 dead cities from Turkey, Italy, Cambodia, and the US.My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4092165371
Currently reading - The Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance and listening to This Tender Land on audiobook.
I am reading The Bomber Mafia: A Dream, a Temptation, and the Longest Night of the Second World War by Malcolm Gladwell. I just love his story style.
Derek B. Miller has given Sheldon Horowitz, his elderly protagonist from Norwegian by Night, a great back story in How to Find Your Way in the Dark. Sheldon wants to kill his father's murderer, but he's only 12. Loved it!

Indigenous Aussie author Adam Thompson's recent collection of short stories is spot-on. The fifteen stories in Born Into This take place in Tasmania, but the problems and challenges are nation-wide. Well worth reading.
