Igifu means hunger, and Scholastique Mukasonga's five stories show what a weapon it is.

I am another enthusiastic fan of Graham Brack and his mystery series. Dishonour and Obey is the third outing with Master Mercurius, who investigates a murder for colourful English King Charles II. This is the way to learn history so you remember it!

I am currently reading If There's No Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I've been avoiding reading this book because I heard that it's meant to put you through emotional wringer but that's the book assigned for our October's JLA Booktalk. Wish me luck! 😬
It's nearly Halloween & tis time for things that go bump in the night.I finished Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House

I have decided on my next Audible book once I finish One for the Blackbird, One for the Crow. my next listen will be "Where the Crawdads Sing"
I just finished Bird Box. I thought it was really good. There are quite a few differences from the movie, which was good because I watched the movie a while back even knowing I should always read the book first. I'm currently reading Shadow Sands and starting The Survivors.
Old school investigative reporting of what Nixon dismissed as a "third-rate burglary. "
All the President's Men by Carl Bernsteinmy review - www.goodreads.com/review/show/3546952983
Good Girl, Bad Girl by great Aussie crime-writer Michael Robotham just won him his second Golden Dagger Award. The second in the series, When She Was Good is very, very good, and the bad guys were absolutely horrid!

If you're from a rev-head family, you'll want this little book for the kids. Ayrton Senna has often been called the greatest racing driver ever.

I just finished The Thing About Jellyfish; it was an excellent book and deserved every single award/accolade it received. I just started Station Eleven today, and it's quite the page turner so far!
Countless readers have loved the thriller I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes, and I wish I were among them. I did read nearly 300 pages before I gave up, though.

Death of a River Guide was the absolutely stunning 1994 debut of the 2014 Booker-winning Aussie author Richard Flanagan, and I loved it. The wilds of Tasmania's Franklin River - terrifying and beautiful!

I decided after all the dark novels I read (Psych thrillers, war history etc) and dark podcasts I listen to about true crime, it was time for something light and fun. Soooo I threw it back to my Jr. Highschool days and am reading...dun dun dun Midnight Sun !!
Homecoming by Patricia Briggs #0.3 prequel in the Mercy Thompson series in graphic novel formatMy review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3617613377
Just started a "comfort food" read of Christmas at the Island Hotel by Jenny Colgan. It's so dismal outside that I needed a comfort read. I just love her books.

The First Stone: Some Questions About Sex and Power is by one of my favourite Aussie authors, Helen Garner. Men AND women; men VS women? This 25th anniversary edition includes other writings about Garner and the lively controversy over the indecent assault scandal.

Thanks to other GR readers for sharing this - I love short stories! Here's my take on Death By Scrabble by Charlie Fish. Good fun and very, very short.
4★ My "Death by Scrabble" review with a link to the story
This is another cute cartoon biography for kids of Steve Jobs by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara. All libraries should have collections of this Little People BIG DREAMS series to inspire kids' curiosity. I always learn something from them and end up looking for more details!
4★ My review of "Steve Jobs"
The Kopp Sisters are as entertaining as ever in Amy Stewart's third in this historical mystery series, Miss Kopp's Midnight Confessions. New Jersey just before America's entry into World War One makes a great setting.
4★ My review of "Miss Kopp's Midnight Confessions"
I finished Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens on Sunday....great book by the way...
I started The Daughters of Palantine Hill by Phyllis T. Smith last night. I'm on Chapter 4
Actually, i decided to pause The Daughters of Palantine Hill because I want to read I am Livia by Phyllis T. Smith first. Even though they are both standalone books since I am Livia talks about who Livia is and why which i think would lead to a better understanding of her in The Daughters of Palantine Hill. So instead I am going to listen to A Drop of Midnight by Jason Diakite.
Something light while waiting for election results - Mercy Thompson in graphic novel format -
Hopcross Jilly #1-6 by Patricia BriggsMy review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3628758921

Lara Hawthorne has produced the loveliest Christmas book I've seen in a long time. The Twelve Days of Christmas is beautiful and has a lot of interesting details kids (and grown-ups) will love. Great gift!
