FAQ

◈Q: Must Part 2 be completed before Part 3 is attempted? What if, for example, I thought my outfit was complete but, after I've already embarked on Part 3, a book comes to my attention that would provide the perfect accessory? May I go back at a later date and add items to Part 2, even if I've already started Part 3?
◈A:Seeing this is the mad hatters party you can do things in whichever order you like and switch things around right up until the challenge is complete.
We may just ask along the way for everyone to update their s/sheets to give all the players an idea of their current standing

◈Q: I filled out the form but have not received a spreadsheet
◈A: sometimes find that when people use email addresses other than gmail, the notification isn't always received.
You can access your spreadsheet link on the status spreadsheet here

◈Q:do you have to have completed Part 2 by the end of the challenge to get points for Part 3 or could you do only Part 3?
◈A:No, you can chose whatever parts you like. So if you only read 10 books the entire challenge and just want to use them for part 3 that is possible

◈Q:can I count any books I started and finished before today, as long as it was after the 1st January?
◈A: Yes

Sunshine (sunshine22222) | 804 comments Dear Red Queen,
What is the minimum book page count?

...My apologies if I missed this.

message 5: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12853 comments Does the challenge actually start today, or is it supposed to be the 10th? If today I'll swap out the book I just picked up for a different one ;)

It starts today Sammy and signups close on the 10th :-)

Lets go with books must be 100 pages or more ( like the Floor is Lava challenge) and if Sonia or Karen want to correct it later they can.

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 121 comments Dear Red Queen,

I humbly ask if Part 2 must be complete before Part 3 is attempted? What if, for example, I thought my outfit was complete but, after I've already embarked on Part 3, a book comes to my attention that would provide the perfect accessory? May I go back at a later date and add items to Part 2, even if I've already started Part 3?

Thank you, dearest Queen! *curtsey*

Yes, I agree Laura. I’ll update the rules later today with the minimum page count

Lexi | 4247 comments As an addendum to the above question, do you have to have completed Part 2 by the end of the challenge to get points for Part 3 or could you do only Part 3? (I would prefer the former as it seems more fun but wanted to ask as it affects points). Thank you

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12853 comments Neverwhere is on the list of re-tellings, but I think probably fits only very broadly (in a down-the-rabbit-hole kind of way), as opposed to being a more faithful re-telling as many of the others I've seen.
Would it still be an ok one to use? I really fancy reading it now that it came up, but will find somewhere else to put it if necessary :)

If the book is on the list- then of course you can use it!

Awesome, thanks :)

(I know sometimes well-meaning people can add stuff to lists that doesn't belong, so wanted to be sure, lol)

Sunshine (sunshine22222) | 804 comments Dear Red Queen,
On the 2nd tab of the spreadsheet > Immersive Theater
.... it states
“It's cover time! Read as many books as you want to build your ideal Mad Hatter Hat!”

🤔 Question:
Would you like us note the books that will be used to describe the Immersive Theater, instead?

I humbly await your response
😎

Ah boo. Doesn’t matter how many times we check the spreadsheets there is always something that needs changing! Thanks for picking it up - I’ll update the sheets tomorrow before the red queen finds out and cuts both our heads off 😂😎

Oh that's a shame. I just tested and it is ok here. I guess they pick and choose regions. It is 4 minutes long, so if you are able to search something else on YT around the same length that relates to mad hatters tea party, perhaps use that instead and note on your s/sheet :)

Allegra | 219 comments Help! I don't see my spreadsheet. I know I'm probably just doing too much and getting confused, but can you help. I signed up earlier today, so I should have been well before the "end" of January 10

message 29: by Laura (new)

Laura | 9707 comments Hi Allegra,
you don't see your spreadsheet because it hasn't been created yet. I'm on the app so I won't be able to do it right now. When I finish all my chores if no one else has made it then when I log on later I'll make yours.

message 33: by Allegra (new)

Allegra | 219 comments Thank you, your Highness, for the spreadsheet.

My new question is about the bonus points.

For many of the tasks, the instructions say "You may pick one or more books" to design your dress or hat or adult beverage, with bonus points awarded once complete. How do I/you/the spreadsheet know when the task is complete? One item? Three items? Just wondering how to best use my reading.

Thanks you for your time, your Majesty

There's a check box to mark it as complete.

Sunshine✰✰✰ | 313 comments For Part 3, can we modify the sentence to make it make sense?

For example. I read Sanford Hospital.

Can I change "Humpty Dumpty is shattered and needs to..." to "Humpty Dumpty is shattered and needs to go to the...?

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12853 comments Your most excellent majesty, I appear to have a slight problem with the points not showing for one of my read books ( part 3, question two - wonderland keyhole). Please would you be so kind as to send one of your minions to tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Many thanks. ;)

Whilst I resent being called a minion (though embrace the word: I've been calling minions minions, in the face of HR disapproval for years, even before the film came out...) I have fixed the problem: was a missing formula, so just copy/paste from above.

Back when I used to run a media production company, and used to take on students on work placement, I always used to refer to them as my minions. It's good to have minions.

and thanks for the fix!

ah, I misunderstood. I thought the problem was that they weren't showing at all, not that the figures showing were miscalulating.

Researched & corrected!
