PITA I understand . Desert isle keeper, and your mileage may vary. I still don't understand the meaning.Probably a language difference.
Desert isle keeper is an AAR designation and basically means it's a book you love so much that you'd take it to a deserted island with you.Your mileage may vary is just a way to say that your experience may be different.
I've started my second-love & other scandals as part of the group read. It's fabulous so far!!

I do like the mix of the H and h personalities. I find Alec the H very interesting.
Other things I like: the way author writes descriptions of scenery & surroundings etc. I tend to like an "older" writing style, where there is more description, tho' not so much that it becomes a snoozefest, and this author hits the right balance for me. Also, I'm intrigued by the behavior of Alec's friends, so that's good.
What I'm not really enjoying is the magic. If there's going to be magic in a book then I'd rather it be a dominant part of the story, whereas here it seems to be mostly used for comical effect (which isn't quite my sense of humor) and also, so far, as the main source of conflict for H and h. And there are times I've felt like the magic dragged a particular scene out so that I just wanted to shout at the h: "stop trying to make your spell work and move on!" lol

Oh, hope you enjoy this better... *nibbles fingers*
Also, prior to GR/shorthand texting, I knew YMMV primarily from car ads (standard language re: particular model’s estimated mileage). But yeah, fits variety of situations :)

Good pick Karma. This was an enjoyable read with a hilarious cast of characters. Had a few giggles with this read.
Finished the group read ofLove and Other Scandals and really enjoyed myself. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I forgot to note that I finished one of my choices, Tabor's Trinket - I really enjoyed it, though it started a bit violent. Neat setting when Gypsies had recently arrived in England so a mixture of welcome and suspicion. Quite a bit about gypsy culture. Good characters and writing.
Thanks for picking Cath! I may still try to get to my other one but not too likely by the end of this quarter.

I finished my 2nd pick My Scandalous Viscount , didn't love it. It was a bit silly and the male characters a bit full of themselves.
