Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Withdrawing my nomination of My Sister, the Serial Killer since it fits one of my monthly challenges this month. Only doing so because no one has volunteered to buddy read so far.

Fiona (fiiicoooo) I just looked at the spreadsheet and would like to join the buddy read for Dracula in October 😊

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments I'm currently reading The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter and would like to continue the trilogy over the next two months. So, if anyone is interested in reading book 2 and 3 with me, that would be great!

European Travel for the Monstrous Gentlewoman in May

The Sinister Mystery of the Mesmerizing Girl in June

message 407: by Skumaskot (new)

Skumaskot | 55 comments Hi! I'm new to this chat and I think I have all the rules down, but please let me know if I'm doing something incorrectly.

I'd like to join the April buddy read for All the Light We Cannot See...I joined in on the thread and that should be enough, since it's already April...right?

I would also like to join Eleanor & Park in May, and Station Eleven and Daisy Jones & The Six in June.

I'm currently reading Mistborn #1 The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson and I understand it's too late to add that to the suggestion list, but I'd like to add #2 The Well of Ascension to the May suggestions, if possible. If anyone wants to join me in continuing the trilogy (or even starting it, I can wait!) that would be great!

message 408: by Chantal (new)

Chantal (coinchantal) | 458 comments Yes @skumaskot, you can just join the thread of the book you want to read of the running month.

Hi @Luci! I'd be happy to join you for Down Among the Sticks and Bones but I actually have to read the first book in the series yet...I'm assuming you've already read it? Would you be willing to move it to May or June, if you haven't already started it?

Skumaskot, I have added you to all the requested buddy reads. However, could you please confirm if you wish to read the whole Mistborn series, which contains 7 books in all, or just the second book? For now, I've only added the second book in May.

message 416: by Skumaskot (new)

Skumaskot | 55 comments Hi Trisha!
I'm sorry, I forgot to specify...I'm planning on reading the original trilogy and then maybe taking a break from the series after that. So I would be reading The Well of Ascension in May and The Hero of Ages in June. After that I'm not sure.

Ruthie thanks for joining me in May!! Are you planning on reading the whole series or just the original trilogy?

message 418: by Ruthie (new)

Ruthie (ruthieram_reads) | 985 comments I’m planning on reading the whole series but can take a break After the trilogy and start up the rest of the series at a later time.

message 419: by Skumaskot (new)

Skumaskot | 55 comments Yes I’m planning to do the same thing...I want to read all the books but I think I’ll need a break after the trilogy. Do you want to schedule the others for later in the year Ruthie?

message 420: by e_anne_b (new)

e_anne_b | 2 comments Hi there!
Would anyone want to start the Stephanie Plum series ? (Janet evanovich) One for the money is the first, was hoping to start in May!

@Skumaskot hi, sorry for replying so late! I hope you get to read this...

I have read the first book, Every Heart a Doorway, but I'm willing to re-read it and continue with the series if you want to, let me know if it suits you and if you want to start it next month (I think it's already late to ask for the thread this month)

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Skumaskot wrote: "Lynn I'll join you for The Irresistible Blueberry Bakeshop & Cafe! Have you decided whether you're leaving it in May or moving it?"

Skumaskot, that book is planned to be read in August. Do you want me to add you to it?

message 424: by Skumaskot (new)

Skumaskot | 55 comments @Trisha yes please add me! :) Are we allowed to add ourselves?

@Luci I'd be happy to start in May...I have too much reading to do this month so I wouldn't be able to manage it, but May is great and I'd be happy to continue with the series as well...were you thinking one per month or more?

message 425: by Ruthie (new)

Ruthie (ruthieram_reads) | 985 comments Skumaskot, Yes we can schedule the others in the Mistborn series for later in the year. I don't have a preference for which month so feel free to choose

message 426: by Chantal (new)

Chantal (coinchantal) | 458 comments I would like to read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King in June. Does anybody want to join?

message 427: by Luci (new)

Luci Limón (lucilimon) | 245 comments @Skumaskot they are not long books, but I'd rather read one book per month, that way we have more time to vary with other reads, if that's okay with you?

message 428: by Skumaskot (new)

Skumaskot | 55 comments @Luci sure! If we really love them we can always switch it up further on...so we would be doing book 1 in May and book 2 in June right? Or did you want to get the first two done in May as an exception since you've already read the first?

@Ruthie let's see how the initial trilogy goes! If I really love the ending I may want to read on straight away :D What do you think?

message 429: by Shareen (new)

Shareen Ghabrial (ghabi) | 299 comments I would love to read that Tom Gordon book! June, or later! Thanks!

message 431: by Trisha (last edited Apr 17, 2020 02:15AM) (new)

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Important Guidelines to be followed

1. Please use the add book/author function to add the book link when you're suggesting a new book. If you do not get an option to do so, please state the full name of the book alongwith the author name.

2a. If you wish to second a nomination or suggest a new month to the reader who made the suggestion, please ensure to use the reply link below the comment to which you wish to respond, and not start a fresh post.

2b. However, if you spotted a BR in the spreadsheet which you wish to join, you can post a new comment requesting to be added; please include the book link and the month in your comment.

3a. Please note that the moderators will skip lengthy conversations(more than 4 posts) between readers, so once you've agreed on the details, please post a new comment requesting to be added, including the readers' name who agreed to read with you, the book link and the month mandatorily in your comment.

3b. For all other conversations, once you second someone's suggestion (as stated in point 2), the moderators will pick from there.

Thank you for your continued support!

I think it's best to read book 1 in may and book 2 in june, that way I have more time to get a hold of the last book :)

message 434: by Skumaskot (new)

Skumaskot | 55 comments @Trisha thank you for the clarifications. To recap:

Luci and I will be reading the Wayward children series, books 1 and 2 for now; so Every Heart a Doorway in May and Down Among the Sticks and Bones in June. If we enjoy them then we will probably continue but we will confirm later on.

Ruthie and I will be reading Mistborn #2 and #3 but I see that's already in the spreadsheet so I don't think I need to add details...thank you!!

April threads will remain open until the end of May. So, I need not move it to May. However, if you both feel that you won't be able to finish by May 25th, I will make the move. Please let me know!
