message 601: by L (new)

L (lizofwords) Hey there! I’m Eliza, a reader from the Philippines. I’ve been in a slump for years so it’s only now that I’m coming back to reading and catching up on my TBR.

message 602: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1 comments Welcome to the group, everyone.

message 603: by Lobzang (new)

Lobzang Lobs (goodreadscomcaffeinebae) | 1 comments Hello guys,
I am Lobzang, from Ladakh (India). I love reading nonfiction and fiction both, philosophy, biographies, and books related to groundwater and climate change. I am an avid reader and I found this group by accident while scrolling. I am aiming for 40 books this year. Happy readings. stay safe and stay home. This too shall pass.

message 604: by Skumaskot (new)

Skumaskot | 55 comments Hi I'm new...I'm from Milan and I like reading just about anything just as long as it's well written. I've been in a slump for a while too, so I'm hoping I'll get back on track with Goodreads :)

I prefer plot driven books over character driven books, but I do like both.
Currently reading Mistborn (loving it) and Her Body and Other Parties (disliking it strongly honestly, but it's very well written).

message 605: by Stefanie (new)

Stefanie | 1 comments Hi everyone!

My name is Stefanie and I live in Chicago. I found this group scrolling through good reads just looking for a group to join that I would enjoy. I love fiction books! I tend to gravitate towards murder mysteries, but I really do enjoy anything fiction. My 2020 reading goal was to read 24 books, I’m already at 20, so I am well on my way! I’m sure like a lot of you, I am finding a lot of comfort in reading in tough times like these. I am looking forward to being a part of this group!

message 606: by Taya (new)

Taya Fosmire (bibliotaya) | 55 comments hi hi.
My name is Taya and I am from southern California. I primarily read young adult but i also enjoy true crime and memoirs. i enjoy historical fiction but only on certain historical events.
I found this group through seeing a friend comment on one of this groups threads in my feed. I intend to read 100 books this year. originally in december 2019 the goal was 50 but after this quarantine began, I started reading at a much faster rate so I upped my goal. Currently I am ahead of schedule but I don't want to up the goal again, because whenever the quarantin lifts, i know i won't be able to continue at this pace

message 607: by Izzy (new)

Izzy | 14 comments Hello! My name is Izzy and I'm from the California (US). I created an account a long time ago but have made a commitment to read more as part of my self care and a way to destress. I've always been a book lover but in the past year I have been further developing my collection of books. My favorite genres are mystery/thriller books but lately I've really started to enjoy feel good, light hearted fiction. I've become such a great fan of Fredrik Backman as I've further developed my library of books.

message 608: by CeebeeS (new)

CeebeeS | 2 comments Hello!
I joined because I love to read but feel a little isolated, and lonely at the moment. I would just love to see what others are reading and get in touch with like-minded people from around the world. I am a book lover and my favourite genres are, where do I begin? Contemporary, fiction and non, biographies, historical, thrillers, mysteries, science and anthropology, classic... and more. Let's say I know what I don't read: Fantasy, romance, love, science fiction, light hearted fiction. I am looking forward to being part of this group.

message 609: by Mila (new)

Mila Uzzi (milauzzi) | 4 comments Hi! How are you? I'm Mila, from Argentina. Thank you for having me in your group!

I love to read fantasy, romance, and poetry. Lately I've been trying to extend my boundaries and read new things. Last year I picked books that talk about different things such as meditation, samurais, psychology and classic chinese short stories. I also love to read manga.

My profile here has only a few days, and my first action here was to look up for books I have already read and leave some reviews. After doing that, I had a message recommending this group.

message 610: by Blagica , Challenges (new)

Blagica | 12941 comments Welcome everyone so happy to have you join our group! I love seeing what books everyone has decided to read. I know that I get so many suggestions from you all. Please look around and join what looks like fun. Welcome and happy reading!

message 611: by Irene (new)

Irene | 2 comments Hi! I'm Irene, from Spain.

I read almost anything, but since I am doing now my degree in performing arts, I am mostly reading plays. I also love the classics (of course) and I have a thing for philosophy. What I miss is being able to comment the books I read with someone, since I have drifted away from my family's taste in books, and my friends do not read that much, so I hope I could get to do that again here, with the discussion groups.

I have set my reading challenge to 50 books for 2020, though I hope I manage to read more now that I have more free time.

It's a pleasure to be here!

message 612: by Frank (new)

Frank | 1 comments Hi there,

My name is Frank from the UK, I’m 19 and want to get back into reading, especially with more free time in my hand. I used to read a lot as a kid but fell back through out the years.

I don’t have a specific favourite genre, but i do love reading self-help books and autobiographies.

For 2020, my goal is to read at least 7 book, and I’ve already read 2, considering i wanted to take this serious in March. I don’t think I’m gonna be participating for this months book because of how big the book is and how little time I’ve good

When finding this group, i just scrolled and tried to find a book club with a large amount of members, and a book which was being currently read, that i would find interesting.

message 613: by Kay (new)

Kay Hawkins (starchaser) | 5 comments Hello my name is Kay Hawkins. I'm a writer who also loves to read tons. I just found thi group and I hope to enjoy meeting new people on this group. I love goodreads because I love to read and it's a good site to keep me on track.

message 614: by Bon (new)

Bon Ortega | 3 comments Hello everyone! My name is Bon from Philippines 🇵🇭. I’m an impulsive buyer of books especially non-fictions. I want to finish reading them all. I reached the last page of some of my books and I re-read them a million times, but most of them I haven’t get pass through the preface section...yet. I know this pandemic is a bummer but it gives me time to flip the pages and finish reading the books that I purchased. I’m a procrastinator (a little bit), and this challenge gives me motivation to read the books in my bookshelf. 😁

message 615: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 1 comments Hey,
I'm Britt from Phoenix, Az. I love reading but lately I've had trouble finishing books I've picked up. My goal is to finish 10 books, start to finish, before 2020 is over; thanks to social distancing, I've got lots more time on my hands. I enjoy reading horror, YA fiction, and non-fiction biographies. I'm currently reading Dawn by Octavia Butler.

message 616: by Amy (new)

Amy | 200 comments Hi everyone, My name is Amy and after living in the UK and Asia, I'm back in the States. I've worked in publishing and entertainment & love to get lost in a good read.

I enjoy women's and historical fiction with a side of romance. I'm currently reading Miss Graham's Cold War Cookbook
and The Little Teashop in Tokyo.

During the lockdown/working from home, I'm averaging a book a day so I might need to expand my 200 annual goal. I'm looking forward to being part of the group and indulging in new conversations and reads.

message 617: by Emma (new)

Emma | 1 comments Hi everyone !
I'm Emma, from France. I've been on goodreads for a few years, but I just realized that the group feature existed !
This year I am aiming at 50 books, but because of the situation we are in worldwide, I've had a lot more time to read (one of the few positive things about confinement), so I might increase my goal.
I read mostly contemporary fiction, classics too. I also enjoy essays and non-fiction.
I can't wait to share with you all my book journey :)

message 618: by Sapna (new)

Sapna (ek_mutthi_dhoop) Hi, I am Sapna from India. I love to read books that have some impact on life, mostly inspirational, memoir, fiction, social change, and thrillers. I want to read at least 24 books this year.

message 619: by Jacob (new)

Jacob Powles | 3 comments Hi guys,

I'm Jake, I've been on Goodreads for just over a year and somehow only now discovering that these brilliant groups exist!

I finished studying economics and finance at University last year so any book business or economics usually catches my eye! But I'm also big into history, politics and any books that I can learn something useful or interesting from!

I'm aiming to read 20 books this year as I only managed 17 last year.

Looking forward to getting involved in the group!

message 620: by Jeff (new)

Jeff Lee (celticshk) | 47 comments Hello,
I’m Jeff from Hong Kong. I’m more of a runner and a filmgoer than a bookworm, but due to the Wuhan coronavirus resulting in closure of cinemas and athletic tracks, I’ve spent more time on books recently. I’ve set my reading challenge to 25 books for 2020, though I’ve already past the halfway point at the moment.

My favourite genres are social science, history, politics, sports, and classic novels. I read contemporary fictions sometimes, too, when I happen to find interesting ones at bookcrossing stands – I rarely pay for them.

message 621: by Christina (new)

Christina | 1 comments Hi All
I'm Chrissie, and I'm an Anglo-Australian from Nottingham in the UK.
I enjoy reading a wide variety of books, from Classics to thrillers, YA to epic series, contemporary fiction, cosy murder mysteries, fantasy, and graphic novels.
I'm aimng to read 250 books this year, but am a bit behind schedule currently having read 50, so one fifth of the way there!

Marta Kraszewska (Rudym spojrzeniem) (rudymspojrzeniem) | 5 comments Hi All,
I'm Marta from Poland in Europe. I'm quite new in Goodreads's community so I will ask you many questions. I'm also book addict and book blogger. Reading books makes me happy and I love sharing impression about book I've read. ;) Have a nice day!

Marta Kraszewska (Rudym spojrzeniem) (rudymspojrzeniem) | 5 comments My goal is 65 books in 2020

rebecca | velvet opus (velvetopus) | 48 comments Hi, I'm Rebecca and I'm a bibliophile.

*sits down in the circle*

I love to read. My favourite genre's include sci-fi, fantasy, YA, magical realism, mental health and fable. Last year I read 55 books! This year, I'm aiming to read at least one book a week (yep, the 52 Book Challenge) and clear some of my TBR pile (which is huge).

I buy 90% of my books second-hand and I adore having a variety of preloved book conditions. I've also recently dipped into ebooks... I review ARC's as well as many second-hand preloved books.

I'm currently reading the 900-page feminist fantasy that is The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. It is EPIC.

Good luck to you in all your 2020 reading challenges! I hope to make lots of new friends here, and chat/share book reviews.

Much love to you all,
Rebecca.

message 625: by Maysam (new)

Maysam (maysamsiddig) Hello! I’m Maysam from Sudan. I’m a sophomore at uni, I major in Biomedical Engineering. All I do is read and watch all day long😂😂 my favorite show is Grey’s Anatomy - which I’m rewatching for the third time😂 - I’m also newly into anime and man I CANNOT GET ENOUGH! If you don’t watch anime, you’re missing out on LIFE!

Seriously, you should start watching it.

Anyway, I’m pretty energetic and get very enthusiastic when talking about what I love it tends to scare people😂

Thanks admin for uniting the good people for a good habit.

message 631: by Emily (new)

Emily Hello, my name is Emily. I'm from Canada and I like to read a bit of everything but thrillers, murder mysteries and memoirs are my current favourites. I'm new to this group but not to Goodreads in general. My goal was 52 for this year but I'm already at 62!! This self isolation is doing my reading habits wonders! I'm just joining this group for more book suggestions, to have people to chat about books with and for encouragement if I get into a slump.

message 632: by Theresa (last edited Apr 24, 2020 09:20AM) (new)

Theresa | 2 comments Hi. I'm Terry from Austin TX. I've been a member of Goodreads for what seems like forever. I absolutely love reading so every year I've been challenging myself to average 1 book per day. Since I read fast and have a lot of time to read most years I actually have to slow myself down to not get ahead of myself. I also review all the books I read.
(Advice: You don't need to only read at chosen times. Always have a book (real or ebk) nearby and read while doing everything. Even just a few paragraphs while brushing your teeth helps.)
But don't think I have nothing else to do. I also care for my husband of 46 years, my 94 year old mom and have 6 grandkids ages 6-17. And I play World of Warcraft about 2-3 hours a day (read at same time).
I'm very eclectic in my reading but it's mostly archaeological adventure, sup romance and vampires with some YA bks, coloring bks and the Bible mixed in. Really just about anything I can get my hands on . But I read for an escape from the world so I stay away from reality-based horror/scifi, most non-fic and (sorry) Stephen King

message 633: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Chantelle (shanti15) Hello, everyone. My name is Jessica. I just found this group so I am going to jump right in. I love readathons, reading sprints, and challenges. My favorite books are Frankenstein, To Kill a Mockingbird, and the Hannibal series. I love Stephen King, John Steinbeck, and Ann Rule. My favorite genres are modern classics, contemporary, true crime, mysteries. I am always open to new friends and books suggestions so feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like.

message 634: by Hanna (new)

Hanna (whannderer_reads) | 2 comments Hi! I just found out about this group by scrolling randomly on my Goodreads profile. I just finished reading The Two Lives of Lydia Bird and hoping to put my mind at ease for a short of period of time, to absorb it all and definitely decide to read another book again. Anyway, I'm blabbing too much. I am Hanna from Philippines. I challenged myself to read 15 books but my Book App on my ipad says I've already read 29 books. The Enhanced Community Quarantine and paid leave due to the pandemic has given me so much free time to read and wander and get lost in the words set by the authors. With every book I found myself wandering on different times, era and dealing with different set of emotions. Through reading, I do not feel stuck and stagnant at home.

Well, this is getting too long. But I just hope it's not yet too late for me to join this Book Club (if it's still active) and I hope that you are all well and safe in the comforts of your home.

message 637: by BookishlyWise (new)

BookishlyWise | 302 comments Hi! I'm new here :) Been a reader for many years now, but now that i want to take it up seriously and ensure I read everything that's been on my list for long, I've joining GR. I try to find any books that's been reviewed with great ratings, or a must read on most lists. As I cant read a book a week due to work and timings, I try to pick only the bets of the list across genres. Happy to be here, and yeah - reading Robert Galbraith right now :)

message 646: by gone (new)

gone (hahalolol) hey all, i'm sal from pakistan! i found this group accidentally while scrolling, and i figured it was a good fit since it's been a while since i actively strived to hit a reading goal: i used to power through 180 books a year, but i lost the rhythm for a while (meaning a few years lol) and i'd like to get right back into it. my current goal is 50 books, so let's see if i can make it :)

i don't think i have a specific genre(s) of book that i like (as long as it's fiction, i usually give it a chance).

look forward to getting to know you all!

Jenish Patel (oxyjenish) Hello there,

Colourful Kenyan (colourfulkenyan) | 20 comments Hello.
My name is Maureen aka Serial Overthinker. I'm from Kenya and I found the group while scrolling for groups to join. I loved YA and used to like romance but I am having trouble standing them since some are just unrealistic. I enjoy paranormal butbI am trying to get into reading classics.
Anyway, I plan to read 100 books this year, 20 books less than last year since I am a bit of an addict.

message 649: by Miss Murder (new)

Miss Murder (janellehavens) | 1 comments Hi all! I'm Janelle and I'm a huge fan of true crime and thrillers. I'm from the US and this is the first year I've started tracking how much I can read! I think I average around 20 books, but given the current lockdown I've been able to read quite a lot more than usual. Looking forward to talking with you guys!

message 650: by Grace (new)

Grace (gfowler23) | 1 comments Hey y'all!

My name is Grace and I'm from Michigan. I tend to read a lot of non-fiction, but I make an effort to get a few fiction books in per month. Since our state-wide shut down due to COVID started, I picked up a job delivering pizzas and I listen to almost a book a day now. My original goal for the year was 75 but now I think I'll up to 100.
