This entire episode was overkill - literally. It served no purpose in the narrative other than to increase the gore factor. The fact that Aaron spared the humans only emphasizes that it was completely unnecessary. A person who is devolving to such an extent that they would slaughter an entire herd of sheep doesn't suddenly regain their senses and spare humans.
I was extremely confused by this whole episode. I have no idea why he killed the sheep in the first place. The book needed to have ended by now.
He completely lost it in that barn. He finally let all his anger and frustration out. I was a bit surprised at the frenzy though. Totally off the books. I wasn't surprised that he never went in the house. I fell like that killing frenzy exhausted him.
I think he went totally off the deep end in this scene. It showed how out of control he was. It seemed he needed to do this so that he could calm down and be focused on his objective.
