Aaron manages to survive after Jo’s bear spray attack and finds respite. Is it plausible that he could do this without survival skills?

Not very plausible but an obsessive person doesn't think rationally.

This was where the story started breaking down for me. Finding his way out in the middle of a blizzard without prior survival training just made this unbelievable.

He made a pretty comprehensive study of the area, but I agree, his getting out, and not lost, was not believable.

That bear spray really messed him up. I do think I would have been able to go on. I think Aaron's obsession with Jo made him determined to continue on. I do agree that it seemed impossible, even with his research of the area. He didn't get lost at all.

At the time, I remember thinking that he had made such a thorough research of the area and he was so obsessed with Jo, that he wouldn't let himself fail. Of course, without survival training, in the real world, I don't think that could happen...

He must have studied the maps of the area, and the more detailed ones in his room quite thoroughly. He did stick his injured face in the snow; maybe that took the swelling down enough for him to have a decent chance at survival, since he had the good fortune to snag a decent snowmobile with directions and the landmarks he'd memorized. I'd hoped that he would run out of gas, but the book was too long for that to happen.

Hahaha! I, too, saw how much more of the book was left and guessed he would survive another day.
