They were expecting him as he had made a reservation otherwise I think they would have been more suspicious.
He showed up ill prepared for the weather, too. They found it a little odd but because, as you say Lauren, he had a reservation, they moved on. He still was a stranger, though, and should have had more questions, especially after learning about the escaped prisoners.
That is what people who live in places like this do. They really had no reason not to trust he was who he said he was.
Since Aaron had made reservations and the storm was so bad, I can see why there was no question that he was who he said he was. Aaron covered his tracks well with not being prepared for the weather. Many outsiders probably wouldn't have expected to get stranded and have to walk to the lodge.
