Icewineanne | 114 comments I read blog & newspaper/magazine reviews & look up the books that sound interesting. Also try searching for books you have really enjoyed. Goodreads always recommends other books on the same page, and you can scroll through books that are similar to the one that you enjoyed. Good luck with your search Gail!

Mochaspresso | 3 comments I use the elements of the books that I like as keyword searches. "husband and wife mystery". "missing child". etc. I also use some of the tags/shelf names that others apply to the books that I like and use those tags as keyword searches. For example, instead of simply "mystery", I might search for "victorian mystery" or "female sleuth".

Although, I will say that this method can also be hit or miss. When I search for "sexy mystery", the first book that shows up is "Flowers in the Attic" by VC Andrews....and I don't know if "sexy" is the first description that I would use for that book.

LOL - the last thing I would ever consider Flowers in the Attic to be is "sexy"!
I think "twisted" would be a more apt description........
