It's Sunday morning where I'm at but I'm wrapping up the read-a-thon early due to unexpected life stuff (a death in our extended family and now we have visitation today etc).

1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
-I finished 5 books/did not track pages; read 9 out of the 10 days (today most likely being a non-reading day)

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
-Yes, I had a goal to read 3 books and I read 5! That's more books than I normally read in a month!! Biggest distraction was my husband had the week off of work and my kids didn't have school.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
-I had so much fun! This was my first read-a-thon in quite a while and my first team one. LOVED the team aspect of it! Really pushed me to keep reading, wish we could do a year long one LOL.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
Sandman Slim

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
-It seemed well organized so I don't have any suggestions at this time.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
-Yes!

Sara (phantomswife) 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I completed four books and 980 pages. Not bad at all with all the other stuff going on.
2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I did meet my goals. I finished the two books for the ATY. I felt like I got in as much reading time as I should have expected.
3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
I did. I enjoy the games and seeing what other people answer to the surveys.
4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
The Garden of Evening Mists
5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I'm in awe of what you guys do. No suggestions here.
6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes. I like to participate when it is possible.

Edie | 1147 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read? Read 3 books and 2/3 of a long book. Two of those books counted for the ATY 19-20 winter challenge. I didn't rack the number of pages.
2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions? I exceeded my reading goals for this read-a-thon which were somewhat modest because of the holiday and family time.
3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts? Absolutely I had fun. I love seeing what others are reading and the teamwork is a plus. I really liked the exercise in looking at books 5, etc. on my TBR list. It reminded me that I have to look at that list more often when selecting books for the various challenges.
4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon? Gwendy's Magic Feather I had read the earlier Gwendy book .. and this was a fast, engaging read.
5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons? In terms of planning, I loved knowing what ALL the prompts were going to be even though we couldn't start filling them in right away. Team sizes were great this time.
6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons? YES!

Kristina | 245 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I finished 3 books. I didn't track pages, but it was around 550.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I didn't meet my reading goals since I lost 4 days of reading due to traveling. My main goal was to finish the 4 books I was in the middle of at at the beginning of the read-a-thon. I finished 2 of the books, plus read a 3rd book outside of those 4. Out of the 2 books I didn't finish, I read about 100 pages of one book and 0 pages of the other. I'm hoping to finish the remaining 2 books by the December 31st.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
It was fun. I enjoyed responding to the daily posts.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
Breakfast at Tiffany's

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
No suggestions at this time.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes.

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3279 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
8 books, including 3 graphic novels, for a total of 2295 pages.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I never set huge goals for readathons, but I'd say so considering I read so much! I had a pretty busy week and a bad cold for a lot of it, so that was definitely a distraction.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Yes. I liked that this one was a bit more relaxed and easier for me to keep up with than previous team challenges, I liked that I actually felt like I was contributing to the team for once.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I tried to participate in the individual challenge as well, but got bored with it pretty quickly. It just got annoying for me to track each game separately, and I'm not sure all my books would have counted anyway since it seemed relatively easy to read things that wouldn't count toward any of the numbers. I basically gave up tracking for that one partway through. I did enjoy all of the other tags and games though.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes

message 7: by °~Amy~° (new)

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) I'm pretty sure this was my best read-a-thon attempt this year! I'm a bit proud of myself actually. :-)

1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
6 novels and 2 graphic novels, 1,360 pages!

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I didn't really have any goals other than to read something every day and to not get sidetracked. I succeeded!

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
I did have fun. I was very happy with all the books that I read. There were a few rather long ones and for the most part, I enjoyed them all.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
It's a tie between my first read Mr. Dickens and His Carol and my last My Sister, the Serial Killer. I also reread A Christmas Carol which is an all time favorite, so that was great too.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I think it all went very well. This honestly was not my favorite individual game, but it was still interesting. I think I went through the board 3 and a half times?

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Absolutely!

Kathy E | 3333 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I finished 10 books which included 2 graphic novels, 3 books under 200 pages each, and 4 books over 200 pages, two of them on audio which I listened to at 1.5 speed. 1690 pages

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
Exceeded my goal which seems to be normal for me! I want to much to finish books that I try to get books between 100 and 250 pages. I was glad to read 4 "normal" books!

Biggest distractions were the holidays which I thoroughly enjoyed.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Yes, my favorite parts are working with a team and reading.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
Envious Casca by Georgette Heyer. It's a mystery set during Christmas time.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I like when the team challenge also keeps track of pages. I like my pages of unfinished books to count to a goal.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes, thanks for organizing it!

message 9: by Kathryn (last edited Dec 31, 2019 04:14AM) (new)

Kathryn | 563 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I finished 7 books (two of which I had started prior). I didn't keep track of pages.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I didn't have any reading goals, as such, although I'd said I probably finish 2 - 3 books weekly, so 7 books is more than my upper estimate for 2 weeks! However, one of those books was exactly only 100 pages remaining to be read when the read-a-thon started, so that one didn't take long to finish off.

Christmas was a bit of a distraction! Although the pre-Christmas things on the weekend were even more so - once that first weekend was over, things calmed down a bit for me, giving me more reading time than normal.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Yes, it was fun! I enjoy being part of a team!

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
For the most part, my reads were all 3★ reads, except for Fatty O'Leary's Dinner Party by Alexander McCall Smith, which was very amusing and I gave it 3.5★.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I'm sure it's a bit tricky to manage, but I like having the page count as part of the challenge. That way, even if you're reading a book that can't count toward any of the categories, at least your pages read helps the team.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Absolutely!

I agree, Kathy - I was thinking that during the read-a-thon as well - although more for books that you just couldn't slot in anywhere - at least if the pages count, that feels useful!

Right, Kathryn! If someone finished a prompt that you were reading for before you and your book didn't fit anywhere else, it'd be nice to count the pages toward a goal.

I think adding a page count component to the team challenge would be great! I don't usually track pages read, so this would give me something new to work towards, (possibly choosing bigger books etc), during the read-a-thons :)

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions? Yes, work and holidays and traveling because I have to drive for us.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon? My Christmas story
5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons? Possibly. I do feel like I let my team down when I had to drive to get my granddaughter and then keep her entertained-although I did read some. She had my tablet some, which is where my current read happened to be, :)
