I've read my first book of this challenge and it was so compelling. The Girl Who Smiled Beads: A Story of War and What Comes After by Clemantine WamariyaMy review
I have added the book over 500 pages with The Tenant of Wildfell Hall which I absolutely loved and gave 5 stars.
I completed the book set in Oceania with My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin which is set in Australia and is a classic by the author that the Miles Franklin Award, one of the most prestigious literary awards in Australia is named for. This was her first novel and I gave it 5 stars.
I have completed the Immigrant Experience square with Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue. I gave it 4 stars and here is my review
I completed the Award Winning square with The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai which won the 2006 Booker Prize.
I added my book for the Graphic Novel square with Can't We Talk about Something More Pleasant? by Roz Chast. It is not a pleasant topic to read about but it is important because it's something many of us could face with our parents or ourselves.
I've added two more squares, but I shifted one previous book to a different square.Moved:
Efuru from Woman Author to Set in Africa
Added:
Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson to Woman Author
Sula by Toni Morrison to Wildcard
I've added one more square: Translated from French - After the Spring: A Story of Tunisian Youth by Hélène Aldeguer which I gave 2 1/2 stars. Here is my review.
I've finished the Classic square with Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell. Although I've really enjoyed the other Gaskell novels I've read, this one was only a 3.5 star read for me.
I've completed two more squares:YA or Children's: Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers
Set on an Island: Surviving Paradise: One Year on a Disappearing Island by Peter Rudiak-Gould
One more square complete- Set in a MENA country Celestial Bodies by Jokha Alharthi which is set in Oman.
Another square complete. Memoir - Good Talk: A Memoir in Conversations by Mira Jacob a graphic novel which I gave 5 stars.
I've completed the Translated from Japanese square: The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino which I gave 3 stars.
I have completed this challenge. My final book was the Translated from Spanish square with La Bastarda: A Novel by Trifonia Melibea Obono which I gave 4 stars. Here is my review.
