Brittany wrote: "That one looks really good Heather!"I really enjoyed it! And it's a stand-alone which is nice with having so many series going.
Recently finished
on audio - YAY for a finished series! Also finished
and
in physical copies. Winterwood was beautiful - loved it so much! The other was hard to get through but healing in it's own way.
There is something gratifying about striking them off as done yes!
I don't know anything about that series. Tell me about it!

The first is The Beholder - it's advertised as an Odyssey retelling. I'm not super familiar with the Odyssey so can't speak to that but I enjoyed both. Book one definitely was more focused on romance than I expected and a lot of people were disappointed by that - I went in with really low expectations so maybe that helped!
Hmm... okay. I love the Odyssey so I'll have to check into it more. If its a poor retelling, and mostly focused on the romance I probably wont love it. Thanks!!
Finished
and was reminded how much I adore Dresden! Can't believe I waited so long to come back to the series.
Brittany wrote: "Dresden really gets going after book 3! My fave will always be book 7 though!"Ahh! That makes me excited even more to keep going!
The end of three is really where the meta plot takes effect! Each book is still its own story but the overall story arc gets going in full there!
My daughter has been pushing me to read
so finally did that this past week and just finished! I loved it - it ended up being so much better than I went in expecting!
Just wrapped up
and while it is a middle grade book, I adored it! So much fun - and the audio is really well done!

Skulduggery was one of the two big fantasy series of my teen years (along with Percy Jackson), started reading them when I was 12 and the first part of the series ended when I was 18 (he hadn't announced that there was going to be new books then so we all assumed it was the end).

Also it's kind of like Harry Potter in that the books get more mature as they go on, really only the first two, maybe 3 books are properly middle grade, the rest are YA.
One more interesting fantasy middle grade book I didn't know about. I've just added it to my TBR. Thank you, Heather! :)

Skullduggery Pleasant is an amazing series that I've never finished. I got up to about book eight I think it was and stopped. Basically I wasn't prepared to deal with the things that were coming in the book. I really should go back and read it through to the end.

They follow an older Valkyrie.
I heard there was a return to the series but never really looked into. It's definitely something I need to return to.
So glad to see others have loved it, and so excited to continue. I'm considering rereading book one to my 8 yo old, I think he'd enjoy the story! Elena, I hope you enjoy it when you get to it!
Hit a slump and haven't read in a couple of weeks. But August stats are:16 total books completed
9 were stand alone's
2 were series wrap up's
2 new series started
1 was a re-read
14 were audio/mix of audio and physical
2 were physical only
I had 10 five star reads and 6 four star reads.
Great job anyway. It doesn't matter how many books we read, the best thing here is just to enjoy reading whatever we want :)
You did great with the 16 books though! And 2 finished series is awesome! These Witches Don't Burn sounds incredible! I love witchy books! Definitely adding it to the never ending tbr list. Lol
Wow.. Only two books in September. What a strange month it was for me. I read Regretting You by Colleen Hoover and re-read The Wicked King by Holly Black. Both were five stars for me. Also got half through Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe, which I'm finishing up today, and really liking it a lot.
Anyways those 2 books sound amazing. And yeah! Life happens :) Hope next month will be better for you!
Finished October with five book finished - much better than my two in September! 3 were re-reads
2 were new
All were five stars
One series completed

Maybe my slump of reading has made my rating more laid back hahah!
My three re-reads were:
I'd say QoN was my favorite re-visit. There is just something about Jude/Cardan that makes my heart happy.
My two new reads were:
They're both so completely different that it makes it hard to pick but I'd lean towards Vengeful because I adore Schwab's writing style and already had an attachment to these characters. Though she did kill one of my favorites off so not happy about that :(
Finished the year with 185 books finished! Haven't done the math to see how many were which format or ratings but overall, one helluva year! Reading has drastically slowed down since I moved and changed jobs in August so still debating 2021's goals.
